  1. All things being equal, food/cover/water, just making sure there wasn't some recognizable feature that would contribute to one area holding deer and not the next.
  2. I'm a little slower than average so I need all the help I can get, but I hear ya.

    Arizona Elk Bonus Pt.

That's what I figured, thanks for the responses.

    Arizona Elk Bonus Pt.

Since the draw is run, and I didn't get in, can I still purchase a Bonus Pt. for this year? I can't seem to find anything regarding this in the regs.
  5. Sorry for the stupid question. Yes, I'm an FNG here, that has some "use it or loose it" vacation time that I thought would be well spent solo bowhiking the first full week of January. I am curious what everyone considers the "desert units/areas". Are those referencing all the areas south of the Mogollon Rim, or more SW like units 39-45? I've seen references more up towards Phoenix and even northwest in 15, 16, 18. I'm basically confused. I've got a 24 hour drive to the middle of AZ and looking forward to seeing the sunrise in the desert. Thanks for any thoughts or direction.
  6. Non-Typical, appreciate the warning, but could I get you to expand on that? I have been spot checking the weather in various spots the last two weeks and it looks a little cooler with more precipitation in the form of both rain and snow, than I had initially expected. Is this a normal year in that regard? Are you suggesting that with the moisture that the roads get swampy and limit a lot of access? I have been in eastern Montana and Wyoming when it got wet and those places are no joke, but typically dry out reasonably quick.
  7. Apparently I should have been more specific regarding target species. A border unit Coues deer hunt has been on my bucket list for a number of years. Four days of travel leaves me five days to scout with a bow. Hoping to get in a couple solo stalks within a 24 hour drive, I felt mule deer might give me a little more opportunity? However, recent research has indicated there is decent Coues populations stretching a long ways north of those border units. Recognizing the two species utilize slightly different terrain/elevation, I would be ecstatic with an opportunity at either.
  8. Thought that would turn out a little easier to read. Basically mimics the 2017 stats from GoHunt/Rawmeat. It does not, however, delineate between early and late season that I can find.
  9. I am guessing its from the stats on the AZGFD website:
  10. Cool pic Stanley. I just wanted to clarify if a certain group of units were considered "the desert" as opposed to others. Based on the responses, I guess I can assume a number of units have desert areas within them. Thanks for everyone's input.
