Wow that seems incredibly rare to double up like that on one group. Pretty much the only scenario I could think of is a mother with young ones or the young ones stuck together after mom cut out (which was already mentioned). Congratulations to you and your son! Super exciting and memorable for sure. And thanks for sharing the video—that was cool too

I’m not overly familiar with late hunting in 6a (though I should be at the end of the month with my wife’s tag!), but based on late hunting I’ve done in unit 1 and 27, elk didn’t tend to move too much until December unless there was a lot of snow. Like PRDATR said, they should be in the same spots you’ve been hunting/seeing them even in those temps

Ok guys, forgive me because I am COMPLETELY new to the process of getting an animal taxidermied. Fingers crossed, my wife will fill her tag in the late bull hunt. She is very excited about the tag, and if she ends up getting a decent bull she would love to do a shoulder mount. I’m sure there is a thread somewhere on this site that addresses this already, but do you guys have any suggestions on a trustworthy and decently priced taxidermist to do the job? Also, if the bull ends up being smaller or broken, she is considering doing a euro and getting the hide tanned. I can probably do the euro myself (I did one last year), but any suggestions on who might do a good job tanning a hide would be great! I appreciate any recommendations you can provide! John

Congrats to your son! That sounds like a great hunt. Of course it’s nice dreaming of filing that tag first thing opening morning but usually the best hunts are the ones that last a few days. Long days and miles on the boots make the success that much sweeter
