    baiting, salting

Ron, thanks for the info. I have a question for you though. If I am reading the AZGF Deer Hunt Data correctly, it was 2006 when the department changed the hunt in 22 from a strictly a December hunt to a October/December hunt, with the majority of tags in October. The number of tags was increased from a total of 450 in 2005 to a total of 550 in 2006. If this is true, you would expect the success for the general hunt to be lower; this is the (AZGF's) quantity over quality at work -- high hunter numbers/low success rates. I can also speculate that the higher number of unsuccessful rifle hunters turned to the archery hunt since their tags were not used; thus, a skewed archery success rate. Am I way off base? I do understand your points about the spread of disease and such, but I am against the rule change for these reasons. 1. It is not enforceable. If we make a rule change it needs to be enforceable not just a means to fix an issue, but cause other problems. The chance of a WM stumbling across someone hunting over bait is basically zero. What if someone puts bait out (illegally) in an area around where you want to hunt. How far away do you have to be from the bait to be legal or how do you know it has been created illegally? 2. As you mentioned, you can still hunt over water. We currently have enough problems when it comes to our "first-come-first-served" rules. If baiting stops, I feel that more hunters will hunt over water, and there will be even more problems. Now we have created more work for our law enforcement officers. 3. I have hunted over salt for several days in a season and only had a few deer come in, like 4 deer, the same 2 bucks twice. My $.02, anyway. I would appreciate your comments. Thanks.

    Canon 30d DSLR camera

I have a Canon 30d DSLR camera (Body Only) that I am looking to sell. I purchased the camera in early 2007 for $1100+, and it is still in great condition. I am asking $450. It comes with a battery, charger, and a 1 GB SanDisk card. A similar camera online sells for $489. http://www.adorama.com/US%20%20%20%20320956.html I will ship for free to any CW member in the US. PM me if you are interested. Thanks,

    Great Weekend

Dodger2, Sweet! I put Colton (11 yo) in a blind below my treestand yesterday. Nothing came in, but we had some fun, and he slept for two hours! Grong told me his snoring was scaring the deer, but it was really like a buck grunt.
  11. By the way, we do NOT want to see that video!
  12. Geoff, Anytime! Congrats Again!!! I think you should change your name to COUESKILLINGMACHINEONOPENINGDAYEVERYYEAR!

    Nice Buck

Your Camera? I thought your name was Chuck, and the name on the camera is Greg. It's probably one you stole from some innocent Coues hunter!

    Trail Cams

I personally prefer Cuddeback cameras because of the trigger speed and battery life. I know they can be spendy, but worth the price in my mind. I also use the bear safe, which lag bolts to a tree and padlocks. I have not had any issues with flash spooking game. I have had bulls bed right in front of my camera with the flash going off every 1-3 minutes. http://trailcam.drchoate.com/ My thoughts anyway,
  17. Lance, Cool, thanks for sharing.

    email from G&F

I received a notice from TRCP http://trcp.ga0.org/campaign/climate_security_act about the same thing. There is another group, Season's End, with support from several organizations Like Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited, and even ESPN that support this as well. I believe the premise is that there are some major dollars to be managed by USFW to support wildlife and wildlife habitat during changing times.
  20. These pictures were taken about 100 yards apart. Are they of the same buck? Enjoy the game.
  21. These are the only two pictures that I have of this buck, or bucks. I found it odd that I never got more pictures of the buck in velvet. He showed up once and never again, while other bucks were coming in quite a bit. Later in the year I moved the camera to another trail, and got the picture of hard-horned buck. I actually believe that this is the same buck, but I don't know for sure. To me, the g-2, g-3 combination on the left antler seem the same, as does the crab-claw on the right side. However, the difference in perspective in the photos makes it hard to determine for sure. Thanks for your help,
  22. All, I have been messing around with some new software for photo gallery creation. So, I put together a small collection of trail camera phots from last year. Please feel free to take a look at: Trail Cams Enjoy,

    Big bull down

I helped my brother-in-law on his elk hunt this past weekend. Saturday morning we spotted a bull about a mile away. We decided it was big, and took off after it. We had to cross a huge canyon, with the upslope being the hardest and longest. It took us a couple of hours to get within 350 yards. From there he was able to take the beast. It took us another 45 minutes to get to the hillside the bull was on. STEEP!! The bull was actually bigger than we thought, a big 6x7 with a split g-2 that grossed 379 and change. Charlie and his bull Me and the bull Enjoy,
