I have found that when I try to view the livestream from a mobile device, it has problems and times out. No mention of any education proposal,I believe they will talk about that tomorrow. I did catch the part when it was mentioned that Game and Fish will need to secure an additional 10 million dollars to operate at the current level going forward....

I'm sure you would. But I'm not quite ready to let HSUS take away any more of our heritage over difference of opinion or the inability to come up with reasonable solutions. If you are serious about continuing to act like a petulant child instead of helping, I can give you Kellye Pinkleton phone number and you can get signed up.

Still nothing relevant? That's o.k. the adults will solve these problems.

time to give it a rest. Have you contributed anything relevant?

the objective is to educate the masses on how hunter dollars are directly responsible for conservation in Arizona, and how Game and Fish uses those funds. As it is, Arizona has the second largest urban population in the nation, and is estimated that 70 percent have no clue of the relationship between hunter dollars and conservation. That is how groups like HSUS are able to prey upon social ignorance with terms like "trophy hunting". The general public has no idea, and even some hunters. Polling from HSUS revealed public sentiment is not on our side, and that needs to be reversed if we ever hope to attempt another Constitutional right to hunt and fish, like we did in 2010 and it failed.
-
I'm also interested in section (E) of HR 2591 that states "using any other means to ensure the growth of hunting.." Is that to mean that P and R funds could be used in legal battles to combat attacks against hunting? Lots to think about with this Bill.

I agree that the language will definitely clear up some gray areas. Part of the problem, and something that needs to be addressed, is that the plan isn't necessarily about hunter recruitment, but rather educating the 70 percent of Arizona population that has no clue how we all contribute, and how conservation is largely dependant on hunter dollars. The language in HR 2591 would provide a clear path to that type of public education without exposing the department to litigation from animal rights groups that would claim Game and Fish is misusing P and R funds. In essence, this Bill could make this whole conversation go away, and we all get back to hunting.

An interesting article https://www.outdoorlife.com/changes-to-pittman-robertson-funds-are-designed-to-save-next-endangered-species-hunters Note that HR 2591 would amend Pittman Robertson funds to allow as follows: (A) using social media, marketing, advertising, surveying, television spots, print, and media (D) providing education to the public about the role of hunting and recreational shooting in funding wildlife conservation. Sounds like this Bill is exactly what we need.

does who have a quarter?

I will not be at this meeting.

What I interpret from those emails is that the Commission, Conserve and Protect Arizona, and "every sportsman in the State" sees the need for the type of educational outreach these funds will provide. There are genuine concerns about how the funds will be raised. Let's all keep up the thought process of coming up with solutions.

The money going to Game and Fish isn't to engage in a political battle. It's to inform and uneducated population about the contributions hunters provide to conservation, and Game and Fish role. Right now, public opinion isn't in our favor, and we need to reverse that before we can ever hope to pass some kind of Constitutional amendment. And as for the more auction tags bringing down the collective value of them, that point was made at the last CAPAZ meeting, I think by bonecollector777.

Dirtbag, I would hold off on opposing this plan until all ideas are given a chance to succeed. At this point, several people have spent quite a bit of time coming up with thoughtful solutions, and it appears that auction tags may be coming off the table. To oppose it at this point is opposing some good ideas, such as the license fee increase, and other ideas. And I'm not going to speak for everyone, but think most agree with the public education plan, or at least would agree with it if different avenues of funding are explored. Let's give everyone's ideas a chance to be heard. -
Well, that sounds good. I can attest to the fatigue, I got to bed at 2 a.m. and had to get up at 3:30. Im not sure of the history, but I'm willing to bet that wasn't the first interaction with Pete and Bruce. Definitely better words could have been chosen.

I don't think the bonus point argument detracted from the overall point you made. Still useful info.
-
true. I just hope they (game and fish)don't simply steal his idea. There would have to be some kind of intellectual rights Flatlander would retain.
-
Good ideas last night, idgaf. The hope is that through the education plan is we wont have to fight HSUS. Now comes the hard part, you have to convince the general hunting population that you are fighting for them with a license increase.
-
what has changed, as far as your perspective? I thought there was some solid ideas put on the table.

pete isn't paying me, but he did promise me a very rare California Condor tag if I donate 1 million dollars to the legal fund, which is actually a shadow account so we can hunt orphans in Sudan. -

id be cool if you suggested it if you dont mind, it may make them more credible to people who dont trust them from the past. Its all about transparency. Thats what screwed up the round table meetings was a few people decided to go behind the backs of others including game and fish and things were said and done with them representing a group they really didnt represent except for the 3-4 people. One G&F guy almost lost his job because of there dirty tactics and they planned the whole time to get this guy out too. he was one of the coolest most listening guy of the bunch too. I'll ask if i make it up there. I know Pete has said from the get go that sportsmen participation in this is vital. Another good idea might be a live stream. -

I have no clue. I know there was a guy there that recorded the audio on his phone. Might have been Bruce. I can ask if they take minutes or anything. -

KRPThats a very good point, I assumed these meetings G&F was there or at least some of the commissioners where. Not that I am saying the meetings are bad as some good can come out of them. there was a guy there from game and fish at the last one. I think he was involved in the HCP stuff. I don't know if there will be one at this meeting. -

listen to you guys. First you were mad that you didn't have enough notice on the last meeting, now you don't want to go speak to this group you have concerns about. Go speak your mind. -

What's the point? Did you listen to that radio interview? It's clear they have no patience for the "mob" on CWT. That's an actual word they used to describe us. so show up and provide your input as an individual and a sportsman in this State. They don't know who you are. Say what you have to say. -
