Congratulations! So 152 yds is exactly what I am hoping for out of my muzzleloader in Nov. and am not quite there. Could I ask a little about your setup? Ammo, scope etc? Way to go. Sounds like you guys took everything you're supposed to out of a hunt. Joe

How to Squirrel Hunt?
flagcoueskiller replied to bowsniper's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
The biggest key I have found is to pretend you are not squirrel hunting. Those little rats with tails are everywhere when you aren't hunting them. Truth be told one of the best ways I know is to slowly walk old logging roads right at first light. I know some good areas in 6a where your boy could get some lead in the air. I don't know where you are planning to go but send me a message if you'd like. That's right I'm giving up squirrel honey holes! Joe -

Home Insurance has been reduced by many carriers in Maricopa and Coconino County FYI. Find a way to get the Swaro's buddy. I actually think Coues deer are created by looking through them. It's almost cheating.

Field judging methods

I would like to urge soazarcher to chime in on this topic. He seems to have the uncanny ability to get within a few inches for his clients and friends before they make a decision. That's only for the folks that want to know a score, which is veryfew of the folks on this site, which I have to commend. Usually he just tells me "I'd shoot him" and a loud noise ensues. -
GREAT BUCK! I'll say 100 right on the number

Awesome! We all love coues deer here, but I think it's safe to say most of us would trade in our tag for a Safari!! Congratulations and thanks for the pictures. How bout some stories?

2nd annual Flagstaff area CWT get together!
flagcoueskiller replied to Lance's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
I am looking forward to coming and meeting everyone. I know almost none of you. Although Doug I do from TR Taxidermy!! Doug I would like to offer something for the raffle. Are you the one with info on what's already donated? If not if someone could PM me I'd love to help out. Not much of a poster but love the site, even if it's hard to think about how long till we're back at it. Joe -
I have heard that for the hogs only it's not that easy. They end up in the mesquite thickets a lot etc. The buffalo and the stags are another story. A lot like shooting cattle probably.

I know those deer too! You may have company hunting them. I have spoken to a handful of anxious archers talking about them. FYI -

I have the Slik Pro Mini with the Outdoorsman head, it's a great setup. The pistol grip swivels straight down to provide a great rest. I never had to move when I found a buck last year. Just my .02 -
Is it quiet? I have been planning on buying a Honda 2500 because I don't think I need that much juice, but if it is really quiet I may take it off your hands.

I just visited McCall Idaho. What a beautiful place! Fishing was incredible. Just curious, how do count points up there? Cause down here a 4 point would be quite a trophy. We count only one side when conveying how many points a deer has, or if the sides are different a 3x4 etc. I just read your post and was curious. Hopefully you do find one with 4 on each side and shoot him! Good luck.

Hey 111 are you sure they will post sometime today? I have heard a lot of rumors on when but you sound confident!

Now that's just mean. If I don't get at least an Oct tag I am going to have to blame you!

Yeah I think that Coyote is in bad shape too. Look how he's just laying on the truck like that. That is clearly unusual. -
Is it sold? I will write a check site unseen.

Mind if I ask what end of the lake you were fishing? Dam or the Narrows?
-
Russ, is this gun used? I don't think they go for much more than $500 brand new.

I haven't been up there, but there's no snow.

Video of that buck
flagcoueskiller replied to Huntn coues's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Hey Sun Devil, it sounds like you know your way around the cameras. Would a doubler suffice for a decent 20X Sony camcorder with the rife mount? I do a lot of backpack hunting and would love to drag the extra weight if only to show my hunting partners everything that happened instead of my adrenaline ruined recollection. My stories when I am by myself usually go something to the effect of "I glassed him, decided he was a shooter and I don't remember much till I walked over to him. I think I need to cheat a little and try to catch it on film when possible. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am wondering if I need a better camera to film out to 300yds where you can at least see what happened even if it's not perfect. -
Hey Doug, thanks for the review. I'm sold. If I shoot another buck that's smaller than I thought I'm going to consider repositioning the barrel, towards the shooter.

Hey hookedoncoues, just curious why you might not get to hunt coues in AZ again. Are you moving? Or are you just putting in Dec. in the most coveted units?
