Help me name my new dog!
erucker replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Looks like a Sandy to me ER -
I have had a Ranger for about a year now. I have to say I love it. I have been more places with it with a couple of buddies on the front seat. I have never had a belt break, but I carry a spare and a 10mm rachet just in case. I am coming up on 200 Hrs and will have to replace break pads. My Ranger gets used 2-4 times a month when not big game hunting or scouting. The only problems I have had were caused by me pushing the limit, I.e popping a tire. As for belt problems, I have the 2005 XP 700 EFI, no belt problems. I have heard the newer models had a slight change that cause faster belt wear. I also heard they "Dealer" can fix that, it is just an alignment deal. I also have bird dogs, can throw an aluminum dog box in the back and you and the dogs are on your way. 4 Dogs, water, guns ammo and meals. You can't do that in a jeep or a Rhino or even an Arctic Cat Prowler. Good luck, they are all nicer than riding a quad or beating up your truck. Really what matters is if it meets your needs. ER

I see nothing wrong with it. But I have time to go up a few days to a week in advance to put my trailer out. I do this primarily having a big trailer limits places to camp. One note, I never camp to close where I am hunting. I don't make the rules just stay within them. This is someting we have to live with because we hunt public land. Be thankful it is public land. ER

Guys and gals, SOLD!!!!!! If you own a Dodge Cummins, this is a must buy! When I put it on my truck, I thought I got a new truck. I used it mostly in "Performance Mode" gave me more power, better shift points and most of all increased my fuel mileage. Of course I did the intake and exhaust at the same time. Anyway, I got a new truck GMC Sierra Duramax and no longer need this one. It has flashpaq, which is downloadable from the internet to get different programs and updates. This retails for $449.00, I will sell for $325.00. That is a deal! Save yourself the money! ER

No pics, but we did get video of both. If I can find my conversion software I will try and post. You know Sunday morning we saw two dogs. I was totally shocked to see them they came in at 6:00 am they looked to be in good shape considering where we saw them. Have you ever seen them? There is not a house for miles. If you know of anyone that lost dogs, they looked like minature Rottwielers or definately mixed breeds. Ed

Mr & Mrs HC it was nice to meet you. I hope you can arrow that toad. Saturday my partner arrowed a small guy at 7:01 and we decided to wait an hour. During that hour 40 minutes into it at least 20 turkeys came in and I drilled one at 35 yds. It was fun. We did see our buck's but gave us no good opportunities. Good luck! Ed

Most cameras also have built in memory. Are you sure you didn't get any pics of the purps? I definately would lock it up. I use 12X12X8 electrical panels with locks on the covers and the chains. Doesn't mean it will not get stolen but it sure may slow them down or think otherwise. I also never put my cams near the beaten path. Sorry to hear about that. ER

Mathew, I was hunting there too. Those boogers are real tough, had some close calls, but no luck yet. I left last night to take a couple days off to recharge. I saw some good rutting behavior yesterday, watched a mature buck run a smaller buck off some does and make 2 scrapes. Did some spot and stalk, sat some travel routes but mostly sat a ground blind on a tank for 16HRS a day (6 straight days) By the way, we found a resting place for two rattlers. Found one the day after I just belly crawled 400yds thru the same area and the other walking to the blind at 4:00am with headlamp. Both were easily irritated and ready to strike. Makes you a little nervous with all of the crawling I did. Any how plan on going up a few more days next week. Good luck! ER

Alpine/Greer area cabins???
erucker replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Myrick's Cabins are what I rent when going up. They are really nice and close to all of the three resevoirs. Last summer hooked a 24" Brown in River resevoir on a bead head fly on a 4 wt rod. The fight lasted about 30 minutes and then the hook released. Have fun! -
Wow, that's an awesome buck. I love the height and with of that buck. Congrat's,, ER

Awesome-It's about time courts open their eyes. This has been going on too long! The most important point is it hit them in the right spot...the pocket book!!!!

After hunting first weekend and not seeing much, I decided to go out for one more morning hunting the last Friday of the hunt...just before the crowd showed up. Well it payed off. I glassed this buck up at over 500 yards walking away. Watched as he went around a ridge out of site. I grabbed my gear and ran down the rim to get a better look. Couldn't find him walking...so he must have bedded. So I went down into the canyon to further glass (Disect), still nothing. I was thinking I woud have to go down and bust out of the bed. I knew he was too good of a buck to not bust him out. About the time I decided to do that, I heard rocks crash and I saw him running, so I layed down and got a rest and in the limited time I had to get the only shot, I was able to close the deal. I have hunted Coues all my life and so far he is my favorite harvest. I hope you enjoy. Check out the fork on G2. He also had a kicker out of the right base 2". What makes him cool is the dark antlers and the great mass!
