Yeah, I heard the coat thing works too. I believe they went back down there today to look some more. He had to come back last night because he was with some others that had to be back. I will keep you posted. Lots of people in that area so we just have to keep our fingers crossed. ER

Hey all, Me and a buddy are looking into a guided lion hunt. Do any of you have any solid recommendations? What do these hunts typically run? I've talked to a couple guys, but I am not totally sold. Thank you for your help. ER

Was down Javi hunting and the carp deer were hot! I saw a group of deer (15) 4 were bucks. The dominant buck spent all of his time chasing the smller ones off. This was in the SE corner of the state.

Thank you for your recommendations. I will inquire with them all. I figured there were a lot of folks here that would know better than me. It's quite a bit of money, just want to know we are spending it well. Again, many thanks! ER

Great story, what an encounter. Too bad about your trophies. As for the fella with the negative comments, I once read, " don't worry about the stick in your brothers eye, when you have a log sticking out yours!" What's in your closet?????? This site is for us to associate with others with similar interests, not beat each other up when given the opportunity. Grace does go a long way. Thanks for the post. ER

Coues Hunting Turned Out To Be Everything I Thought It Would
erucker replied to Mr. Jonathan's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Great story, sucks the southern part of the state has that black eye because it is maybe the greatest part. Disregard some of the $^&$%&*! remarks, someone always got something negative to say. -

My Boy's NM Buck (UPDATED on pg4)
erucker replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
What a stud buck and killer that you can do it with your son. IS that difficult to hunt in NM? Please let me know. I would love to try and hunt NM for Coues. Thanks for posting, ER -
Will this 2x ever be a 3x?
erucker replied to Huntaholic's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Nice buck, it lools like a pretty mature buck. After hunting midwestern whities I learned to age bucks and by those standards I would say that buck is close to four years old. My guess is that buck will never be much more than what he is. In the end it comes down to genes and food and water availability to that deer. ER -
access to santa teresa mountains
erucker replied to minguscoues's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
And access off Klondyke is pretty much limited to foot access. At least it was a few years back. -
Really the AZGFD website gives a really good synopsis of where to locate Coues in the units you are looking at. If you follow that info up with some homework you can find some good areas. Good luck

So. Az dog trainer
erucker replied to skunked's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Call Dave Higgins of the Cochise Bird Dog Club, he knows everyone and could recommend. If you want a good trainer up here, then I recommend Tony Marquez of Desert Creek Kennels 623.512.8496. He has trained two of mine and myself. I owe a lot of what I know to him. I have sent several people to him and never got a complaint. ER -
Nothing better than doing it with your bro. Great jobs guys, those buck are awesome! ER
-
Congrats! Now you can drink and talk about it!

Yeah no kidding, that sticker has taken a beating too. ER

Way to go. Nice to see people get their first. ER

I think it may benefit you hunting during the week. The majority will be there for opening weekend only. One of my best bucks came the following Friday in an area that was littered with hunters the prior weekend. Once the deer feel the pressure they will shutdown and wait til pressure lightens up. I have had this happen in the southern units as well. I second the thought of getting off the beaten path and checking the overlooked areas. Most people don't want to work that hard. Good luck, ER

I don't know one way or the other, But from a physics stand point I will shy away from shots through loose screens. I make sure my screens are as tight as I can get them. I just have to believe a loose screen adds drag to the arrow. I shot through a tight screen and connected fine. I watched a buddy shoot through a loose screen and he did not connect (Multiple times). Could be just a coincidence. ER

That's too bad. I hate to hear that. The two best around here are Bill Gibbons and Tony Marquez. Tony trained my first dog and mostly trained me. He helped me with my second a little but wanted to do most by myself. If you want those guys numbers, just PM me. It's not too late to have the dog trained for bird season. We never take dogs out (Hunting) until after Thanksgiving because of snakes. I have referred lots of people to Tony and have never had anyone come back unsatisfied. When he ssays 90 days...he means it. If it is less then you get your dog back and don't have to pay for the extra time not used. If it takes longer, he will not charge you any more. Good luck.
