Are a lot of you guys seeing less Javelina/Javelina activity? I am kind of getting that feed back from A LOT of sources this year. I know we hunted 3 known areas hard this year and saw one sounder of 3 pigs. Was absolutely crazy. Hunted hard too, 8-10 hour days from dawn till dusk.(3 glassers) Everything was very green, but locals said it was a VERY dry year over all I guess? Just wondering what you guys think

I would say they are definitely down some. And I agree with you 100% ^^^.

No that is my buddies pig. It was a frontal shot at 7 yards, that is the exit. Rage 2 blade Extreme. He didn't go 10 yards.

Hows everyone fairing with javelina hunts so far?
Mr September replied to Bigfish86's topic in Javelina
For those shooting adequate energy try a large cut diameter expandables on these small framed animals. I use the Rage Extreme 2 blade and I haven't had one make it out of sight in years. It is the equivalent of shooting an Elk with a 25 inch cut diameter, they can't handle it even on marginal hits. (We don't shoot past 20 yards on these little guys either) -
Another pig at 10 yards...

We don't use calls on Javelina. Puts to much stress on the herd and can move them out of their area for weeks even months sometimes. That and it's just unnecessary on an animal that is near blind and willing to tolerate a lot of mistakes. If you can't get within 15 yards of a feeding Javelina you may want to consider a different life style. Just something to consider before you ruin your area for the rest of the season.

We have found the same thing. We try to never do the processing close to anything we think they consider "significant". Small animal easy to move. They are more sensitive to these things than most people realize. One reason I will NEVER do any of the unnecessary varmint calling BS in any of our areas. I did that in one of my best spots in 2009 and I have never seen pigs in that exact location again.

That's good ^^^
-
Good to hear someone is finding them in their normal spots. We could not find them in any of ours.
-
Any pistol will work at 20 yards with proper shot selection.
-
Looks like a leggy sow to me.
-
Awesome! That first one in the light video is definitely pregnant.
-
That is a BIG one. Sow? Or boar?
-
Is that a good area?
-
You sound like you know a lot on "the subject"?
-
Sure would make it easy though. The whole "multiple tags as long as their different numbers, but only 2 pigs" thing seems absolutely impossible to regulate/enforce on the ground in my opinion. I'm surprised AZ has opened themselves up to such a fiasco... JMHO

Good job then. I agree with you. You need a CLOSE clean shot opportunity on these little guys to be ethical. Tiny vitals, fast as lightning, and tough as nails. We don't shoot beyond 20 at them. (If I can't get within 20 yards on Javelina: It means I can no longer hunt and I will immediately hang it up! LOL!)
