2018-2019 Regs Are Now Up Online
AZAV8ER replied to rossislider's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
35b only went up to 65. Still not like in the last 20 years the deer numbers have gone up much to notice. -

Anyone know case water capacities for different .270 Win brass?
AZAV8ER replied to nw07heavy's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I was looking for uniformity and durability information, as well as max capacity, if it is more than very slight. Norma would be as good as Lapua brass. I have RE-26 for 140's and 150's, and am getting RE-16 for 130's. I understand these new Alliant powders are super in the .270 Win. Thanks H4831 has been very good for me with 140's. -
Calf stretching is what flared my foot pain out of nowhere. I quit stretching and it took 6-9 months to settle down. That was 15 years ago, lots of hiking, hunting no calf stretches and pain free.

How long ago did you run your comparison? I am new to this whole app ballistic thing and have Strelok at this time. This SUN it just gave me dead center hit at 800 yards, have also been comparing it to my printed JBM drop chart. Maybe I am lucky maybe they updated Strelok? Any thoughts?

I have used Winchester brass with great success, that is until about two years ago also bought cases that had cracks dents etc generally horrible looking qualities. Not sure which way to go now. -
"They want tags for a very select few" OK I must not be up to speed, who are "they"? Tell me who "the select few" refers to? SFW and their cronies? USO? Way to many acronyms, way to abbreviated discussion (if its that important don't be so abbreviated you become cryptic). Tag auctions might best be reserved for ELK, Sheep, Turkey or Deer (etc) conservation.

It took a while to get the hang of shooting off bipod and getting a cheek rest set up but I think I am getting it sorted out. Using a Seekins Precision Havak Pro Hunter PH1 6.5 C and Hornady 140 ELD match. Video is a 500 yard target and the orange center is 2.5 inches.

No luck getting video uploaded

What is the benefit of a trust vs individual? I could be wrong but I think without a trust if you leave the can at home and you leave and another adult is in the house they could possibly be breaking the law? Maybe it doesn't apply if it is in a safe though. I'm sure it has to do with possession outside of the home. Lets say if your wife or kids are at home while you are away then they can not have access to your "can'. You have to have it locked up and no one should be able to get to it in safe or whatever.

How many here have successfully hunt AZ whitetail deer in AZ in every decade going back to 70's ? 60"s ?
-
I like it. Took my first deer on my 4th hunt in 1975, deer taken with 30-06 SPFD 03 built between the wars (WWI &WWII) Lyman 4X scope was 10 years older than I was. 8 tracks were pretty new at the time of my first hunt.

Unable to understand how many on this site are able to ride bicycles
AZAV8ER replied to cactusjack's topic in The Campfire
Hmmmm from low ballers, to B "s massaged? BTW graduated in 74, been bagging Coues since 70, but only here since 6 mo ago. Oh well I'm still buying new or shopping around if you re asking near full retail for your used stuff. If all you are getting is low ball offers that could mean decent folk don't like your price and being decent don't care to counter and offend you. -

Hard to tell but looks like post 64 push feed. The one view of the bolt does not indicate any evidence of claw extractor. -
I disagree, heres an example, a bull elk that you have watched for years and you finally draw the tag for the unit he lives in, so you go out and see him, you shoot. The shot is a perfect lung shot, but he just stands there, what are you going to do , just sit there and watch him gasp for air then run off, nooooooooo! you are going to get as many more shots in him until he goes down!!! thats called being an ethical hunter! I agree with you that if a person doesn't go out to the range and practice with their rifle and make sure that it is sighted in then you shouldn't be hunting, but if you do and the animal needs another shot to do the trick then you should put that shot in!!! I am offended that you said this because im sure that you and everyone else on this site has taken more than one shot at an animal at least once! I practice more than most because I shoot in competition, but you cant predict what is going to happen in the field unless you have a crystal ball!!! I have had to shoot more than once a couple times, and I am not ashamed of it, I do wish I wouldn't have had to take those extra shots, but it happens, it is called hunting!!! Hmmm I believe from the description your first shot killed this Elk, he just did not go down right away. Of 4 elk I have bagged 3 took follow up shots to stop. In all cases first shot a killing shot square through the lungs. Feel no shame, as all good clean shots at acceptable ranges with 30-06 180 gr.
