Do you need practice shooting sessions? How much practice time do you have to put in?
-
I tried to look up that range when you mentioned it couple months ago and had no luck getting good info/directions.

Interesting how things go sideways so easily. I took SHOOTERS question at face value, "Are one shot kills the norm or does it take several rounds downrange to seal the deal"? Or there about. Shooter if I am wrong correct me. I am a fairly good shot and have done ok in competitions of several types over the decades. To date taken two Coues first shot cold bore at 300 two misses at 400. The 400 yd shots 30% uphill bad light & so so rifle rest. One off hand 300yd on Elk and one 375yd on Elk. All with normal to light weight hunting rifles with 6X and 9X scopes. One hunter that I know who seriously competes at rifle matches has about a 500yd limit for himself, also with normal weight hunting rig. As longer range rigs go my only experience is PRS competition. We get about 60 shooters at our matches and maybe the top 5 can put first shot and subsequent shots on target at 1000yd consistently. For me 600yd is the range I can put first and follow up shots on target consistently.

Nice bucks great stalks !!!!

Had it for airline flying. It was required but never did anything to get it but apply.

I can echo Lance's point on light rifles. If I don't get on my 6.5 lb 270WIN just right shots can go wide.

I have a "Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit" does that count?
-
Congrats!! Sounds like a great experience. Coues hunting days numbers ??? Snap out of it youngster I am 62 and been at it since , crap can't remember 71 or 72 and just this years finally realized I will do well to get in ten more good years. So unless their is an undisclosed situation you look good for a bit more hunting.

I have a Bergara Premier HMR Pro in 6.5C out of the box it shot .35 at 100 yards. Great trigger and smooth flawless action. My next hunting rifle will be a premier series stalker. They do have the B-14 series that if it is as well made as the premier you might consider. The B-14 is their better priced line. I am totally sold on my Bergara.

Have seen plenty of lions S of Patagonia and E of Noggy. Your are in slightly different terrain. Just guessing where you might be and that area does have a mix of high and low. Given proximity to S end big mountains and broken country with some higher terrain, go for it.

Is the 3-15 still available I am also in N Phoenix

Anyone aware of any new mining operations in 35B?
AZAV8ER replied to n2horns's topic in The Campfire
It was a Canadian firm a couple years ago. It shows up on Google maps. A number of locals tried to stop it but no go. I think they are going after silver, a lot of the old claims around there were silver deposits. -
Thanks Red. I love MOD 70's I have some control round feed from New Haven some from SC and I'll look for the BACO stamp on my newest one, had not noticed it before. Yes very nicely figured wood.
-
BACO ?? What does that mean ?? Was it made in the FN machine-gun works in NC? What do you think of the Tract scope?
-
That area will get you fewer hunters and there are deer in the Guliuros. Make plans for water if you are not coming back to a base camp every night.

Don't go near the border units, so very & hairy scary. Smugglers everywhere, better be safe and go north. -
How much does 'canting' your rifle affect accuracy?
AZAV8ER replied to 308Nut's topic in Long Range Shooting
So does that make it no longer relevant? Being older that is? Now we can get scopes with level indicators in the illuminated cross hairs. -
OMG Mission in Detroit.

Band Tailed Pigeons
AZAV8ER replied to Big Browns's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
they do love acorns, if you can find any. Tough birds, tough to bring down, #5 shot. Over the years seen them around Aztec PK Sierra Anchas, Pinal peak around the old fire tower and as far away as 35B in the oak draws. Been decades since I have seen any, quit seeing them mid 90's about the time I quit seeing an acorn crop. -
I have used the Swarovski universal tripod adapter for years $115> Also have pulled off bins and laid my rifle across the adapter for several 300 yard shots.

I have a VX-6 that came with them and I have another scope that was promoting them as an extra when I purchased a VX3i for my PRS rifle. I like them but will take them off my VX-6 when its out hunting. Just do not need to have a nice buck pop up at 50yards and have to take off safety, pop front cover, then pop rear cover. In the field would be leery of carrying them open, would hate to snag and damage them. So to sum up they are nice on the target rifle. hope that helps.

Football players can't pray for coaches daughter!!!
AZAV8ER replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in The Campfire
I believe its called the "establishment clause". I don't see how having a moment to pray, reflect, invoke good vibes, meditate for good karma establishes an "Official Religion". I guess if you state a "spiritual moment for reflection for positive outcome" you inoculate yourself from the F***wads. -
Saw this story today. Go to fox13now.com look up under hunting, park city, theft I don't know how to insert link hope someone will.

MOD 70 Classic, by far the best traditional/classic feel look. I have on in 243 & 270 fthrwt and std wt 270 & 30-06. They all shoot well, 243 and both 270's sub MOA with factory ammo.
