Up front, I only know the general terrain in the two units and this is my shoot from the hip skim the surface impression. From looking down out of airplane cockpit flying in and out of PHX over the years I like the high terrain that runs along the S side of the Verde River from Camp Verde to Sheep Bridge. This high ridge gradually slopes down hill to the west towards I17. I would onX scout this country and beware that if wet roads could get sloppy. Good Luck.

Years ago I read a description of Utahs point system and how it worked. It had a logic to it but not what I was thinking it was. Does AZFGD hap a paper or article anywhere describing how the point system works. You would think something their customers are so invested in would be transparent.

Colorado as well as Utah have lots and I mean lots of prime summer range for game but winter range gets eliminated by development every year. In those states winter range is the constraining factor.

How did the hunt go? What bullet in the FED PREM load? I just got out hunting with my son this year he was in the Army for 7 years.

Been using action packer or heavy cardboard boxes (sure they wear out but cheep and replaceable) but considering plano's plastic boxes

For my liking I go with light and glass sitting. I have been using a Vanguard Espod 232CB unfortunately they now longer make it. The closest current tripod is the Alta Plus 233AO 1.6lbs $140.00.

I bought a pair of Cabelas Instinct Euro HD's 12X50 for this years hunt. My son was coming in form out of state for the hunt and was going to use my 20yr old Zeiss 10X42's. It was a short notice purchase and I compared the Cabelas Euro's to the Swaros and could not see enough difference just trying in the store to go 2.5 times more$. Are the Swaros better no doubt, Was very pleased with the Euro/Meoptas for 5 days of hard glassing.
