    What's a trophy to you?

the biggest one that i have taken scored 84. this past hunt, i was aiming for 90+ and never saw him. i had several small spikes and forks within 200 yards more than 3 times. what i usually do, depending on the hunt and how long i have is go from there, first couple days try and find a bigun, and then after that i adjust from what i have seen, but for sure, last day of the hunt is anything with antlers! i think the definition of a trophy changes dramitcally person to person, if the animal is one that you busted your butt for then that is a trohpy. i had my 84 incher mounted because he was my first deer, i worked my butt of for 6 years for him and i finally got a deer. trophy for sure has to do with the size of the antlers, but that is not the only thing that it has to do with. what ever you think is a trophy, is a trophy, there is no right or wrong answers!

i am gettin my 270 wsm tomorrow! i am looking forward to it, i think its gonna be a good gun. as of right now i am gonna top it with my 3-9x32 alpen but am looking at a 4-12x40 leupold or 3-9x40 zeiss conquest. i am going to shoot 140 grain accubonds form the 24 inch tube. the 25wsm looks interesting as does the 7mmsaum! good luck with you choice and let us know. .243 or .308

i have killed elk with my 308, with no problem, if it was between only those two i would say the 308 because you have a lot of options as far as ammo. if it is not just those two i would consider the 30-06 that is what i shoot and there are also a lot of optiions with that, i can shoot anywhere between 125 gr and 180 gr. good luck with what ever you go with!

    Hunter finds corpse

i dont really have a story about this and i hope i never do. a guy that i want with's dad back in the day had to go out into 34a and actualy find a hunter. the hunter was one of his friends who was kind of high in age. he eventually found the man, laying on a 100" 3x3 apperently he had had a heart attack while taking a nap from packing out his deer. he had 4 miles to go till their usual camp ground.

    My (very late) Elk

the same thing happened to one of my buddies. he shot his elk in the correct unit, and it traveled into the next and the AZGFD was there. but, instead of having to prove that he had legally killed it in the correct unit, they didnt ask him any questions, made him gut it, load it in THEIR truck, and appear in court to try his case. i believe he won and was awarded the head. i felt bad for the guy, this was his 2nd year in a row of killing is first archery elk and had not a elk to show for it. the year before he had shot a i think a spike on the 3rd or 4th day of the hunt and could not find it until like a week later, by then the whole thing was gone accept the antles. and he thought that if he coudnt have the whole animal, he didnt want just the head. dont know if that was a good thing to do or not, but thats what he did.

    I need help!

in my hunt november hut we had the same thing. in some places we saw a lot of deer but very few decent size bucks, the biggest buck i was maybe 65-70 inch 3x3. my dad saw 2 that were beteen 80-90. and a guy we were with killed a 90+. as far as actualy seeing ilegals, we only saw 11, maybe this is why i plan on working for the Border Patrol??

    any one pig hunt

Alber aka couesstalker and i went out yesterday (sunday) for a day of huntin. the mornin weather was bad, windy, rainy, and cold.we glassed our buts off and took a short hike with glassin and neither the swarovskis or the docters could find game. after a dissappointing morning, we were driving out of the area to go to another area. on the way out, i made a spot just like Tucson John, 300 + - yards away, movin truck of what turned out to be a heard of 14 HUGE pigs. albert went up after them and got right behind the pigs had em at 40 yards just couldnt get a clear shot.

    Need advice on handguns

newbee, i agree, i feel, in buying my springfield arms xd-40, that i have the best handgun out there. i did a lot of research on it, and was willing to pay more money for a H&K or a Sig, but when it all came down to it, i liked the trigger and the action of the xd. the H&K and Sig all had to long of trigger pulls and that equals more time. some people would say that Glock makes the best handgun out there, and i have one of those also, a model 26. 9mm. i can shoot both of these handguns well and they both fit me well ( for my size i have small hands, and the glock has the clip extenders) would i trust the life of my self, my little brother and my parents with me having to protect ourselves with my xd, you bet your butt i would. would i trust it to stop a charging lion, deer, or pig, loaded with federal hallowpoints you bet your butt i would, the bottom line is i have confidence in myself and this gun. to me, besides a 8 round 12 guage, my xd is the best home defense out there

    Rude hunters

when i had shot my first deer, these two other hunters came off of the hill that we were on before we had moved to a ridge to shoot. atfer the deer had been down for about 5 minutes, we were waitng for our buddies who had pushed it out, to go mark it so we could go to them, the guys from the hill started walkng down right to it and the whole time my dad is yelling at them to get the 1@#!@#$ away( i was reloading). i honeslty think that if our buddies hadnt showed up right when the two other hunters passed it, and if we hadnt been yellin at them from the ridge top, they would have stolen my deer, i mean it was the last day, and a respectiable 80" 3x3 with eye guards.

    Jan Bowhunting bucks and boars

i have been out archery hunting 2 times, and 2 times i have been the spotter on a stalk. i went out with albert aka couesstalker deer/pig hunting and put him on some pigs and yesterday,(friday) took my old man out and put him on a 93" or so.nice buck, heavy and wide. once we spotted this buck, with about 8-10 does around him, we saw him chase a fork off and we went after him. when we got within about 500 yards, i found him in the docters and my dad went after him. he was bedded about 5 yards above a big prickly pear. after close to a hour, he got up and moved not but maybe 7 yards, this cost my dad confusion and didnt know where he was and we of course didnt bring the radios. i had the buck in my binos and see dad walking up to him.he wasnt but 20 yards from him when my dad stepped out behind a octillo. a doe that my dad didnt know was there saw him and busted him. he never saw them leave even though they were 20 yards away and never knew where the buck was. if we had the radios i know we would have a nice buck at the taxidermist's. we had golden oppurtunity and because of no radios couldnt capitalize.

    Rude hunters

i have an honest question for ya guys about the people looking at you through their scopes. when you are hiking and you kick up a deer, you of course throw up your rifle instead of the binos right? by the time that you have identified it with you binos as a buckm gotten ur gun up, found it in ur scope its gone, so to save time and possibly squeeze a shot of at a trophy, you throw your gun up, do u think that is what these guys did or do u honestly think they didnt have binos? either way its not at all right!
