the one time i ever hunted october was a very, very tough hunt. we saw 3 bucks in all for days of hunting (2 of them hit the dirt) and i shot the smallest buck i have ever seen on the last afternoon of the hunt. i will not put in for october again. i almost am to the point where i would rather not hunt than hunt in octber, but is not THAT bad.

The AZ One Shot Challenge

i also hike with a round in the chamber. if i am going to hand my gun off to my dad, i take the round out. i have seen a lot of shows, mostly hunting in mexico where they jack a round in right before they shoot, is it illegal in mexico to hunt with a round in the chamber? -

if lark carries his .270 he might be ok, but by golly you put another rifle in his hands and he might not shoot that well!!! i have a custom rifle that Todd Bettin sells for $3,500 (kinda expensive) topped with a leupold 4.5-14x40 varmint reticle, i am pretty sure i could make the shot on my bipod. that is, as long as its not an actuall deer, i cant hit deer to save my life! -

desertsheep. i spent along time preparing for that long shot. i have practiced many times and thought it was with in my range so i took it. yes, i got lucky and made a lethal shot! now, on to the comment. there are many people here who can hit a gong or whatever at 400-500 yards ( heck i probably could as long as its not something alive lol!) with the new technology and ballistics programs and scope targt turrets, in all honesty with the right equipment and knowledge its not too terribly hard to be able to do this. but be ethical and pick shots wisely. -

i have a 270, 270 wsm 30-06 and 7mag, the reason i want to use the 30-06 is it justifies it being in the safe. and it is the biggest diameter gun i have so i can shoot the biggest bullets and hit the hardest with that gun. -
went and picked her up today from Cottonwood. 1997 GMC 4x4
-
thats why i bought a new one. my old truck (1988 F-150) wasnt dependable. it would leave me broke down with no way to get there. one of its favorite past times was getting stuck in 4x4 low. thats always fun, especially limping from the bottom of the Black River to Pinetop, now let me tell you, thats fun!

so far it is a perfect 100% doug and i took her out coyote hunting today and he called in a dog and i shot it. 1 for 1!!! thats coyote number 2!

John, i actually bought Death in the Long Grass, finished the whole thing in about 2 1/2 days. I, personally think Amanda should donate a CW.com sticker

firstcoueswas80 replied to Becker's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
ehh, its ok, the antlers are kinda small, i would have waited to mount a bigger one nicely done, never seen a coues mount with the mount open -
i do not see anyone here being in the wrong. Scott is from texas, born and raised, but because he HUNTS or has HUNTED or (notice, HUNT is in caps, because it is HUNTING and we are suuposed ot have a certain brother hood, especially us coues hunters) does that make him wrong? heck NO!!!!! i have hunted many times and many species with scott and i can tell you, he loves hunting just as much as myself, or Lark, or Brett, or Amanda. and yes, he can hike anyone out of their boots, heck he did it to me when we were mearns hunting, but he cheated i was carrying a 12 guage and him a 20. hunting it hunting weather it be baiting or workin your butt off for the trophy. with that being sad, i have never hunted over bait, but i have sat a water hole and killed an elk. would i sit at a bait for hours on end in texas? sure, i would try it, doesnt mean i would like it, doesnt mean i wouldnt love it. if its effective, and its what you want to do awesome! i love gettin out there and hiking as far as i can go just like everyone else can. theres just a sense of pride in it for me. am i more proud of the bull that i spoted and stalked when i was 12 years old or the cow i sat at the water tank for? equally proud! both of them were trophies for me and put meat on the table, i also made memories with my dad and grandpa on both hunts. if you want to hunt bait, thats fine. if you dont, thats fine also but ya aint gotta bash the people who do. we have enough enimies outside of the hunting world, ie PETA, antis all that, we dont need to fight amonsgt ourselves!
