What bullet would you use???
firstcoueswas80 replied to Scooter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Barnes. The heaviest TSX that the gun will shoot accurately. Keep shot distancs reasonable, and go kill something. -
Beautiful buck!

Yeah shooting from 10" is a little ridiculous.

Berger bullets for hunting
firstcoueswas80 replied to hunter1026's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I've only killed one deer with the VLD, but it was a puzzling one. I double lunged him at 572 yards and the deer lived for an estimated 30 minutes. He didn't go anywhere, and was obviously extremely sick but still lived for quite a while. When he died (we watched the entire time, and I was still shooting to anchor), we headed over there and there was absolutely zero blood anywhere (no exit). When we opened him up, it was like somebody made a deer vital and blood margarita. IT poured out. The internal damage was incredible, but, as stated the deer lived for 30 minutes, did't bleed out, and left no blood on the ground to track if he would have made it anywhere. I have sense switched to Barns TTSX and have never had to blood trail a buck. The buck I shot last year took a couple to put him down before I hit him well enough to be fatal, but that was on me, not the bullet. This year I will be using he Accubond in my .257 Weatherby. -

2014: Unit 1 archery or Unit 3B early muzzleloader?
firstcoueswas80 replied to Umpqua's topic in Elk Hunting
You've waited 15 years. DONT settle for a late tag! Any time you're hunting elk in the early season is a good time. Nothing like hearing a bull bugle in the cool morning. Although, it can get pretty warm during the day. -
Good God. I think I could fit everything in my house in that pack! Good price on a exceptional pack.

This needs to be taken to a smith, end of story.

Ouch. Thats a heck of a handgun to loose. Try calling BP and the local police, sheriff, and DPS in the area in case it was turned in.
