Jeff, Gunwerks uses h1000, buddy of mine who has a similar wildcat used US 869 & RL 33 with success. I loaded some US 869, and it showed potential, but used about 10 more grains of powder for about the same speed (+/- about 50fps) and a noticeable amount more recoil. Plus, its not a temperature insensitive powder like Retumbo and H1000.

Wow, that 6.5-06 is flat out impressive.
-
Are they nitriding the barrels? So you are saying you see pressure at 2950 with the 180 hybrid and 71gr of powder. Safe in your rifle and accurate. I have a 6.5-06AI pushing 140s at 3180fps and 59gr of powder, safe and accurate in my rifle. My 6.5 has much less case capacity than the 26 offers but velocities are similar lets look at real world data and compare. Lance do your thing and run the numbers. Slightly flattened primers, but no sticky bolt or extractor marks at 71gr Retumbo. But, at 73, very flat primers and sticky bolt. They use H1000, which I've actually yet to play around with.

Also, I don't do MIL, I do MOA. At 600 (150 yard zero), I dialed 10 MOA and was spot on, also using Strelok.
-
That I can't answer for certain, but he said the sweet spot was between 2900 & 3100, I'd be willing to bet they run them as fast and flat as they can.
-
Also, for what it's worth... I just got of the phone with Gunwerks questioning about barrel life. Craig told me their shooting school rifles are lasting 2500-300 rounds.
-
Could you run it at 3100, like up above? I run the hybrid at 2950, with 71 grains of Retumbo. Anything up above that shows pressure, plus accuracy was at 71 gr.

I don't recall saying the LRM would outrun the 26.... I can promise you, running that 180 Hybrid at less than 3000 fps extends that barrels life further than the 26. Lance, could you run those same numbers, with the lrm using the .674 hybrid please.

Not when one strictly works on the reservation.

What would you know about killing big deer? You CLEARLY got lucky with Twister, and your archery buck. I've got nothing to add to this thread add I've hunted strictly coues since I was 12 and have yet to bag a 100" buck. I've had three or four in my crosshairs, shot at two and never connected. Best advice? Follow Jim Reynolds, Jim Mullins, Devin and Jody Beck, and a few others. Gps their boots, trucks etc and sneak into their spots. (Kidding.... kinda)

Amen Greg!

It was said on a Facebook coues and I'm beginning to think it is true... I can't quote the statement exactly, but it was something like 'people think every coues over 100" is a hybrid'. Of course, this buck is a hybrid between a coues ans a elk, its so damnn big!
-
And I'll gladly be on my original barrel while the 26 is on God only knows what barrel.
-
Wife and I got rifle tags, I'll pick up a left over archery tag.
-
I'll still take my 7LRM with a 180 .674 Berger hybrid @ 2950 roughly, over the 26. Shooting rocks and steel in a stiff breeze at 609 was a cake walk.

Hornady interbond or nosler accubond
firstcoueswas80 replied to swaro06's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
What your rifle prefers, but me personally, given all things equal I'd prefer the nosler. -
Because you're very obviously trying to throw stones that are unwarranted. And I will 100% disagree that the tail is the "only way" to tell. Face, head ears, body size etc. Plus, how do you know know he glassed it up bedding and not watched him bed, made his move and killed him? Oh, I know, you're ASSuming.
-
Wtf are you talking about?? It's not that difficult to identify a whitetail in whitetail country... Killer buck, nicely done.
-
Killed my buck last year in carhartts. I have a pair of camo ones to that I really like.

I love javelina hunting because it's about the only hunt where I don't care if I kill or not. Of course the goal is A filled tag, but I don't get upset or frustrated like I can on a unsuccessful deer hunt.

Who cares what he scores that buck is awesome!!!!
