WIFE DREW A UNIT 9 BULL TAG !!!!
Shane Burleson replied to dertrax's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Red Rabbit mentioned three great 85 grain choices, all of which have good flight reputations and penetrate well. Another nice one is the Steel Force 85 gr. Good luck! -

Nice pictures, hope you are able to take one this year!!! -
Chek out Timber Mesa Archery in Show Low. They have a great reputation and have been in business for 15 years. They carry the best products and do a great setup or tune.

When in Vegas for the "Vegas Shoot" I always find it interesting to see what type of equipment the pro shooters are winning with each year. It's always the same, 90% of the winning shooters shoot either Mathews or Hoyt. Hmmmmmm..

Who would like to hunt Chihuahua in Jan. '09?
Shane Burleson posted a topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Hey everybody, I've been dreamin of hunting big coues bucks down south for too long, and realized that I need to just make it happen! I have researched eight different outfitters in Sonora, and Chihuahua. I am leaning towards one in Chihuahua which only allows 12-15 hunters per year and seem to truly care about management. I have spoken with their operations manager and called all of their references(lots of positive feedback). I am planning for Jan. '09 , that gives plenty of time for planning and covering the cost. I would be more comfortable making a trip like this with another dedicated hunter rather than solo. If anyone is interested please contact me through CWT. Thanks. -
Those goldtip 3555's tipped with Steel Force two bladed 75s or 85s will be awesome for both pass through penetration and great flight. These broadheads are razor sharp right out of the package too.

I own an Archery pro shop in the white mountains and had the opportunity last week to shoot the x-force when our rep. stopped by. On the positive side it was quiet for a PSE. Thats it for positives! The draw curve of this bow is very steep, and seems to increase at the back. At 60# it feels like pulling 70#, At 70# it feels like pulling 80#.. Moderate hand shock is present. They want to compare this bow to Mathews Drenalin (and others) But they need to compare apples to apples. This PSE has only 6" of brace height and 70% letoff. The Drenalin has a forgiving 7" brace height and comfortable 80% letoff. If they only wanted to compare speed they should do so with similar bows, like the Black Max with 6" of brace height and 65% letoff. Once again though they would be left behind..

I've hunted unit "A" for the past two years and have found a great number of bucks in the southern part of the unit. I have scouted "A" from top to bottom, the southern mountains are much more glassable with little or no hunting pressure. check out Hog Mountain, Soda springs canyon, my partner found a set of sheds last season that went 132" Typical. good luck!

Congrats again Jay on an execptional buck!! I have shown your pics off to all fellow addicts here at the plant. Thanks for the cool shirts! A 100" Buck with your bow is next man! See you at TIMBER MESA ARCHERY.... -
You can't go wrong with the mathews genesis at that age. It has a light draw weight that's comfortable for young learners, and there's no set draw length so it won't be outgrown. My daughter shot her's from age seven untill eleven. When they are strong enough to pull more weight, the Parker buckshot or Mathews Ignition would be excellent choices if they were interested in Bowhunting.

I've spent eleven long, cold days in the stands this Jan. and saw no sign of rut activity in 24A. One big difference between this year and last is water sources. With our above average rainfall this past summer, most tanks are full as well as pockets of water still standing down in the canyons. The deer seem to be spread out more..
