I'm definitely going to add it to my midwest whitetail pack. I'll take every edge I can get.

That's a fantastic buck! I love those polished knobs around his bases. Crazy he licked the tree you were in and still had no idea you were there.

Looks awesome! I bet you whack a big boy here in the next couple of days! Are you on eastern edge of the muley range out there?
-
Great desert buck! No need for shooter's remorse there. Not at all

Congrats! Nice to have the freezer full! ๐ฅฉ

Lately I've hitting a bunch of the streams below the rim around Payson. Poverty fishing is even too glamorous to describe.

That mass is impressive! Great buck, thanks for sharing!

I'd LOVE to bag a Scramble maybe even more so than any hybrid duck....maybe. -
$100 seems like a great deal. The taxidermist I use is charging something like $175, enough it convinced me to attempt my own this year. Wasn't overly difficult and turned out nice.

Was back out this morning and scratched out a solid 10. They made me work it, hiked 11.5 miles. Started in the same spot I hunted on the opener but the birds wouldn't hardly let me anywhere near them (running then flushing out of range). Hiked over to some new country (same general area) that was maybe less pressured and had better luck. It's been a wonderful season so far. -

I had two half boxes, right around 25 shells. I'm no purist, grounded pounded 6, got the other 4 outta the air. Target rich, must have been 100+ birds in a small area. -

I'm an idiot, thought I had more shells in the truck than I did. Should have check before heading out. Gonna try to get back out mid next week. Hopefully you're knocking them down as I type! Good luck! -

Doesn't get any better than this. Saw a pile of Gambel's checking some desert deer cams today. Pumped for tomorrow AM. ๐ค -

Never thought much about this but always find myself using 7.5s. Seem to get the job done. -
Trying to obtain high FOC - without killing velocity
high rise hunter replied to Buckwheat893's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I agree with wht_mtnman here. I shoot victory VAPS at 8.7 gpi. Without spending more than a minute on this you could lessen your arrow weight ~22 grains with these shafts, shoot 125g broadheads vs 100, increase FOC and keep nearly the same total arrow weight. Also, theoretically you should get better penetration with 4mm shafts than the 5s. -
Just got my apps in yesterday for everything. I'll draw javi but that's probably it. ๐

Similar experience here. Been seeing LOADS of Gambel's. Looking forward to knocking down a couple. -
Sounds like fun! Wish I could join. ๐ค

So I checking cams and saw this letter attached to a trail camera. It wasn't my camera, I had one hung about 40 yards away without a letter attached. Has anyone ever seen this or heard of trail cameras being a violation of law in the Coronado NF? In short the letter says: Trail cameras are a violation of law in the Coronado national forest and will be impounded. Owners can regain possession by contacting Captain Cheri Bowen and pick up their personal property in Tucson after paying a fine.

Trail Cameras a violation in the Coronado NF??
high rise hunter replied to high rise hunter's topic in Trail Cameras
I guess I wasn't worried about getting in trouble so-to-speak just thought it was strange as I wasn't aware of any such laws. Business as usual regarding trail cams as far as I'm concerned. -
You earned that one! Thanks for the story and congrats on a great buck!
