Definitely #2 -
Wow. Thanks incredible! I cannot imagine hiking with 100+ lbs on my back for 27 hours. Trophy WELL earned! Congrats
-
Looks like a hard white to me. Definitely no more than 2 years old, probably dropped last year. Nice find.

I'm hoping it's July 1 but setting my expectations for July 8th. You know, that way I can be pleasantly surprised if they come early.

No promises but I would certainly entertain a trade. Send me what you got in mind via PM. Thx

FREE: Sportsman's Warehouse 10% Off Code **** CLAIMED ****
high rise hunter replied to eddielasvegas's topic in Classified Ads
I've got a 10% off code as well if anyone wants it. -
I would totally agree with this regarding antler growth. Every big bull I've found or had on camera is 95% done growing by the 4th of July.

Fantastic hunt and memories for all! Thanks for sharing.

Got offered goulds tag again from game and fish
high rise hunter replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in Turkeys!
Glad you took the tag. Even on short notice with season right around the corner this was a no-brainer. Post some pics when you tag out! -
I've put on a good number of miles in there past seasons looking for sheds. It can be feast or famine. Very gnarly country, I remember one day puking on my hike out I was so exhausted.

I have the boundary drawn out on my OnX. Happy to share it

Totally thinking out load here and probably a lot of holes in this idea but it would be cool to see tag allocations broken up into a split for primitive and the usual. For example instead of 100 archery tags for a unit, split so 70 go to compound and 30 to trad. Maybe add tags and make it 80/30 or 70/40. Same deal with scoped vs non-scoped muzzles.

Definitely over 40. Great catch!

I recently installed Google nest battery cams at my place. Super easy to install, connect to home wifi and viewable through the Google Home app. The videos are clear and crisp with solid nighttime range and the subscription is only ~$60 a year. Been very happy so far, the downside to the battery cams vs wired in is having to recharge them. My driveway cams which catch a lot of street action need to be recharged about every 4-5 weeks and other cams last only as long as ~2.5-3 months. That's too much of a pain in the *ss so I have solar panels on order that should eliminate this issue but do add to the cost a bit. There's also a Google doorbell with cam that could be a "two birds with one stone" option. Very easy to mount and wire in as well. Camera is great on that one as well. Costco has really good deals on 3 packs of the cameras.

You looking at archery, muzzle or rifle hunts?
-
Nothing here...again. But a NR buddy with a horse shoe up his *ss and 3 bonus points drew either 23 or 10 early archery so at least I'll be out there chasing bugles!

I predominately hunt and camp alone. When I'm alone I can really immerse myself 110% into the hunt. Every decision becomes my own, how far I hike and how hard I hunt is solely on me. I enjoy that aspect. But my favorite hunt of the year is with a buddy and we always camp together and most days will hunt together as well. The camaraderie is refreshing and time around the camp fire at night is second to none. Both are great, I probably need to do a better job of mixing both styles.

That's a ridiculous antler! Great find. You should get out there and do some more laps and try to match it up
-
I could big time get behind more primitive hunts and weapon limitations.

I prefer winter over the summer olympics so I'd like to be watching but haven't (not out of protest) just too darn busy.

Unit 22 bull elk tags 1,300 some perspective
high rise hunter replied to AZBIG10's topic in The Campfire
This unit could grow giants. I understand the need for opportunity and as not everyone is chasing age class but it makes me wonder what it could be. -
I certainly glass them up most frequently in the mornings and to a lesser degree in the evenings. Mid-day is almost always bumping them outta their beds while covering country.
