coues krazy I havent had a elk tag for 7 years and im not complaining . I just put my name in and hope for the best Desertbull I like the way you think
-
SDRHUNTER Hope i havent ofended you have not ment to . Ive lived here all my life and seen a lot of changes and most all have been for the worst . The thing with a tag every 3 to 5 years is the amount of people that will be puting in in 5 years its growing every year and sooner or later the elk like deer numbers will be down and it going to be harder to get a tag yes something needs to be done but Im afraid it will make things even harder like a tag in a life time . Im happy with things the way they are .

If it's happening know why arent they being caught you say your buddy is doing it now . Why dont you put a stop to it I would . There always someone in the system that will do something for a friend or money that there not supposed to do . And if you know this is going on you should report it and put a stop to it even if it is your friend . And let me corect myself is it fair no its not but who said it would be fair you put your name in the hat and hope it gets pulled out . I havent had a elk tag for 7 years and Im willing to keep trying

I have a buddy that has never had a elk tag and complaines about it every time I talk to him . He only puts in for unit 1 Bull where he only has a 5% chance of getting a tag . I dont blame him for wonting a unit 1 tag .But there are outer units that are easer to get a tag in . He only puts in for 12a east deer and has never got a tag . There are almost allways tags for deer and pigs down south but he refuses to apply for a left over tag . I dont fill he has anything to complain about . he could go get one of these left over tags and go hunting . Is the draw fair I think it is it's a lottery everyone has a chance but you have to play the game and put in a unit with the best odds or except the fact you might never get a tag
-
How is waiting in line going to help there always someone who will let someone cut in the line
-
As for havening friends in the draw department thats pretty chicken sh*t . If this is true . In being fair AG&F gave 14695 elk tag this year . There"s about 50.000 people movening into the valley area each year if 2000 of them are hunters in 7 years there will be 14.000 more hunters . with this amount of people appling I think a once in a life time elk tag would be a start .

The thought of only being able to put in for one permit is not a good thought either deer or elk . I got a 24A deer tag this year . Its been 7 years with no tags for elk or deer tags thats the luck of the draw . When I dont get a tag I go bear hunting and archery deer . I still get to hunt and am happy I can
-
Dont know anything about any other state but with the amount of people putting in I dont think its going to help much if you can only get a tag every 2 or 3 years . its going to be hard to get a tag regardless
-
Eyeguards You better get out there and do some scouting you only have two weekends left and season starts in some areas . Ive been out the last three weeks going out about every outer day or so looking for bear sign

Trail Camera Set up
rimhunter replied to Kaffer62's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
On a few I place them up high 10 feet or so . I use tree stand steps and remove them so no one can get up and get the camera . I angle the camera down . Mostly use this setup over water where it might be found . all my cameras I use a python lock . I have made a frame out of 1/2 square tubing to lock the camera in and lock it to the tree this will help to protect it from bears also -

Coues7,Tam,Treestandman,and J-Rod You all are right about the quality of a home brew camera there nothing on the market that workes this good. I have had a few cameras Ive bougth that had somethimg wrong with them . I sent them back and got new ones with no questions asked all the ones I have now work great A lot of us dont need magazine quality pic's we just wont to now whats out there . Ive got a couple of cameras that are slow real slow you just have to set them up so your they have time to work placement is the key on these slow cameras I dont miss a shot never have a empty pic . With the price of the Sony cameras even on Ebay its hard to build a camera for under $250.00 now days a few years ago I bought some refurbished cameras pretty cheep but you cant do this anymore and I can have two cameras for that price and make them work quite well Hope you guys dont think that Im slaming you because I not . Im buying what I can aford and it seems to be working great as good as the cameras I use to make you just have to now how to set them up -

Ive built cameras for the last three years . This year I sold all and started using A 2.0 Megapixal camera that i buy for about $90.00 Ive wired them to a 12 volt battery that is $19.95 . I have had over a 1000 pic on this setup over a 15 week span and the battery was working great when I check them .Ive also put a solar charger on a few that I get a Harbor Freight for $11.99 This set up will run forever . Ive got about $135.00 in each camera,Battery, and solar charger they take good pic's and seem to take pic's as fast as the ones I used to build dont seem to miss anything I can have two cameras for what I use to cost me to build one . Ive doubled the number of cameras I have by doing this and if I get busy I dont have to check then so often And know Im not missing anything because I wont have a dead battery . -

These cameras that use the Hags boards will run the board on a 9 volt battery for 6 months But you need to change the batterys on the camera every couple weeks . The 9 volt only runs the board -

I just took my dogs to the vet some how the wolves came up . The vet told me that a wolve does not get parvo . and if Lark and my vet says its so then thats what im going to think is the truth . Thats all the proof i need
