Trigger pull weight on long range hunting rifle?
loboscout replied to loboscout's topic in Long Range Shooting
Wow, you two are really light. When I ran my triggers light, including PRS competitions, I got in the habit of tapping trying to time it, and it moved the rifle. I prefer positive control. It requires more effort to build an habit, but I can send it without disturbing the rifle now. When I had really bad form, pressing the trigger always moved the rifle. Not really now. 2 lbs is not heavy, lol, in relative terms. -

Dang! I ran mine light, but never that light! I pushed it back up so I could marry my finger to the trigger before sending it. -
Saw some at the Sportsman's at 101 and 17 on Saturday

Just an idea... new barrel and voila, 9mm pistol. Still need ammo, but you can shoot the .357 still. https://www.ebay.com/c/1250180859

CW Long Range Meet Up: January 30, 2021

There were spotters, but some of the targets were elevated without a backstop. That's a good challenge to face, and takes skill to watch the trace to call the miss. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time in the glass watching misses to learn it, lol. -
A buddy has one new in the wrapper, but didn't have a price. PM me what you were wanting to spend. Your inbox might be full because I couldn't message you.

I definitely plan on it again. Sounds like there are a couple options for up north in August before hunting season begins. Thanks all who helped. -

Awesome time with everyone that showed up. We are talking about doing it in late summer before hunting season up north. I will come out and set up more see posts and targets so the next one is even better down here. If enough people want to do it again in March or April I would be game. I would bet money we don't get frogs out for 2 hours. -

Hey, can't argue with that. We'll do it again soon. I am thinking it would be fun once a month. I will leave some tposts out there, and will be simple for guys to bring steel and ring it. Go kill stuff. -
If he doesn't sell it for $775, someone would buy it for $350 and resell it for $775. I sold some at "inflated" prices weeks ago and someone could flip it for an easy hundred bucks or more. I hope they bought it for themselves. I had to pay $80 for 1000 primers, and if Bruno's had sold it for less, you know it would get flipped. He has no obligation to help some make more money or us save money. At least he limited how much, or it would have been all bought up before I got there. That's supply and demand. Its the free market and liberty we should support. This isn't a captive market like bottles of water in the airport. Its nothing to get your 07 FFL and start making ammo if you have the money. Besides, it is smart to buy low and sell high, its what we all want to do... So, sell your goods to the highest bidder!

Bring steel and hangers, I have t posts and will pick up a few more I think. Will also have my t post driver. We might not put out the steel, but will be nice to have. If it is a pain, just bring hangers, I could use them with some of my steel. Look forward to meeting everyone. Sounds like we'll have quite a crew. -
I always like to do a Google search, and gather a bunch of data to cross reference and start from there as well. Sniper's Hide has a reloading room with lots of data for cartridges that I have used in the past. https://www.google.com/search?q=300+wsm+h1000+load+data&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS845US856&oq=300+wsm+h1000+load+data&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i22i30l2.6572j1j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Awesome, we have a good group forming. Gonna be an fun shoot. Zach has a .338 so we'll probably put his big target out further than 1000. Anyone bringing steel, it would be awesome if you could get there by 7, ready to carry the steel. We can drive out to about 800 and then walk the rest out. There will be a couple of us ready to help. If you can bring a plastic table, I think it would be nice to set up an area to case and uncase rifles in a safe direction. Last thing we want is the wild west and guns coming out everywhere. -

Looking like we have 6 committed to go. Room for plenty more. I have some extra shooting bags to give away, some $200 to $400 worth of bags, depending on how many people show up. -
Man, I moved a big 16x8 shed myself with some red neck ingenuity... Never doing that again. Good luck.

Everyone who wants details, please send me a PM with "CWT Shoot" so I can make sure and respond with the details. It is extremely simple to find. The turn is right on a mile marker and you can see powerlines right on the turn. You will need a truck or SUV to get back there, but it isn't too bad. There is just one hill with some /washout/loose rock that I wouldn't take a car up. -

Thanks to @rcdinaz, we have the target locations ready to go. He hammered this one out at 760. The two just below the waterline were his. I couldn't hit it with one rifle (uhggg), but got on with another. From 100 paper to 1000 yards of steel. Plenty of rocks out to a mile. -

Hey all, it is still a go. I am planning on going to do a dry run this weekend or next to grab a pin drop and do some shooting to proof out new steel locations. If anyone is free to help carry t posts and help set up, an extra pair of hands and eyes will help. PM me. -
