Glassed this on a cliff face in Jacks Canyon.
-
There is a rope to the left, this is about 1 1/2 miles from where the rock climbers hang out. Probably is to sweep loose gravel, thought it was strange to leave it. I half expected to glass a body at the base...

I bought mine when I was 16, 52 years ago!

100 lb braid should be about 25 lb mono equivalent .

I've lost count on how many years I've been chasing these birds. At least 5 tags and more years of listening to gobbles and at least one missed shot. It all came together this morning. Just like in the videos. You call, they answer. Then after watching 2 gobblers strutting 100 yds out for 1/2 hour they come over to check the decoys At 40 yds it was over, finally the monkey's off my back! Nice Tom, about 20# with a 10" beard. ] Sideways but not bad. 😀

Here are some photos of an unfortunate experience that Noel Arnold had on a recent elk hunt. The bull was shot across a small feeder draw that led into a major canyon. The bull tried to go up this small chute. He died at this point. Then the bull slid off a 50’ cliff landing on another vertical rock pile that had a small cut in it. He wedged in this cut with only his horns holding him. Noel took these pictures after finding a way down that got him to a ledge below the bull. This ledge was very small with loose rock making recovery impossible Here’s a photo looking into the canyon several hundred feet below.

Reminds me of this post I made in 2008. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/10957-what-are-the-odds/?hl=%2Bnoel+%2Barnold

^^^^^^^so there's still hope! By the way light snow falling now and the wind has died considerably.

Sunday morning in 5a was beautiful , not one gobble! One half the hunters say it's over, the other half say it hasn't started. What's the consensus amongst the turkey pros? Today is horrible! Looking like this coming weekend will be more of the same.

Just saw this. "Paper applications will be accepted before April 25. We have corrected the information and apologize for any inconvenience."
-
Leftover tags are available at 8AM April 25 but per game and fish email they can't be postmarked before April 25th. If that's the case when are you suppose to mail them. I have sent messages to game and fish but have not heard back yet. This is the context of the email "By mail: Paper applications will be accepted beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, April 25, and must be addressed to: Arizona Game and Fish Department, Attn.: Draw/First Come, 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85086. Applications postmarked prior to April 25 will not be accepted. Note: There is no mini draw. Allow 10 to 15 business days to receive a hunt permit-tag by mail."

This leftover tag is for a friend, he called G&F and they said if it was mailed today it would be ok. When asked about the postmark being April 22nd they again said if you mail it today it will be ok.

Yep, by summertime you figure they've all been picked up. Then you go out in the spring and find whites! Go figure.

I have never heard it was illegal to use an electronic call in Arizona. Must be another state.??
-
Ha ha! Don't think they would call just to say hi.

Geez Bob, sounds like a different show than what I saw. I can't imagine it being any bigger. Had to go at least 1/4 mile from the main exhibit through acres of RV's, tent displays, and archery stuff to get to the boats and fishing area. Was there for 3 hrs and actually didn't see half of the booths.

It has about anything you could possibly want to look at pertaining to outdoor activities. I thought it was nice and saw a few people I hadn't seen in awhile. Went Friday afternoon and was surprised at how big it is, not many people there.

Now that I know what ATL means here's a couple.

Pics of my Great Grandfathers coues

I'll answer that. He lived in Bisbee, had coues out his back door and probably not enough money to travel to shoot anything else. Later in life he shot some nice bulls, maybe Larry has some pictures he can share. -

Love these pics! -
Simple to download, pretty depressing when you look at the odds! For $3.00 not a bad deal. Elk hunts appear to be bull only.

I think el Diablo said it best.
