Good question, I didn't know there was a season on prarie dogs! What's the reason for it, and since there is a season is there a limit?

Lost my wallet on a pig hunt a few years back. Didn't realize it till we got back to Phx that night. Went back up the next day and backtracked everywhere we had been that day and found it on a rock we glassed from the first stop of the day, which happened to be the last place on my backtrack trip. Just saying, I would sure be backtracking if I was you.

I have second hand knowledge of someone that got a ticket during a javelina hunt. I know second hand knowledge doesn't count for much but it does come from a reliable source. The guy glassed some pics quite a ways off and drove to a location that he could hike over and shoot a pig. Seems a G & F guy saw this and ticketed him for "using a vehicle to take wildlife". Instead of telling his wife he got a ticket he paid it instead of going to court.

Got a little over an inch at my place by Happy Jack last night. Nothing like Tucson and south but need to start somewhere!

Around Happy Jack my rain gauge shows .15" since the monsoon started, lousey to say the least. Keep thinking it's going to hit and nothing' Went down toward the rim this AM and looks like some areas got decent rain.

Of what use are these kind of shells? I can't imagine why they are even legal to sell!! Is there any need for a shell that shoots fire? Maybe I read it wrong, puzzling to me...

Have a cow call handy at all times on the late hunt. I have stopped bulls from busting by doing a quick cow call, enough time to make the shot.

Scout and find out where elk are feeding, meadows etc. then look for where they are bedding, thick stuff. Settup between the 2, do what you can for scent elimination (I use Scent Away spray), put out a decoy if you have one, and do some cow calls. Move several hundred yards every 30 minutes or longer and watch for bulls sneaking in. If you're not particular about what you shoot you should get plenty of small bulls coming in to check you out. Like I said before I use the Carlton cow call but do like the primos hot lips also.

Lots of bulls in 6A eager to check out a cow call. I like the Carlton hyper cow, go down a ridge and do 30 minute settups and see what comes in to take a look. Listen for the bugles, the herd will attract a lot of satelite bulls and things can get crazy! Do your settups and keep your confidence up. If that doesn't work bugle every once and awhile to see where they are then move in that direction and do your cow calls. Don't be afraid to try some tree raking to get a bull excited. You have plenty of time, just move around and try different things. Most of all have fun, that's what its all about!

Just like the Coconino, you will get a lot of response when they come out with the maps and people realize their favorite camping spot is no longer available.
