Elkaddict replied to muzzlehunter75's topic in The Campfire
Word must be getting out, the trailer a few miles down the road from me has been moved. It had been there, and unoccupied, for at least 2 weeks. Hope he got it and not the FS. -

Is Coconino enforcing the Travel Management Plan??
Elkaddict replied to Viper's topic in The Campfire
Did anyone have contact with the forest service this weekend? Did anyone see a forest service truck? Just wondering, I still haven't seen a closed road that doesn't have fresh tire tracks on it. The same trailers are parked in the forest that have been there for a couple of weeks. And there are still camps a couple of hundred yards off the road. So my question is " is there any enforcement?" -
What you did was the norm, I had my picture taken on at least 4 cameras this weekend. Just look at them and move on. Still surprised at how many cams are put on with the flimsy strap you get when you buy them. I had a camera on a walk in tank behind private property that would get pics of 2-3 people and their dogs every week, got nervous and took it down.

Whitey, why are you giving her up? Don't want a dog that was just diagnosed with something.

Great pics out2hunt!! -
How much does she shed? Daughter has a yellow lab that sheds a bunch, but have some friends that have labs and not as noticeable.

On probably the first deer hunt I had my wife on we were hiking and glassing on a very frigid morning. After an hour or so of that I turned around and saw Sandra and my friend Danny Westfall sitting by a wind break back about 50 yards. I went back and said what's up? They said they quit ! That pretty much set the tone for the next 30 years, take it slow and easy and if the weather is bad, stay in the truck.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone has to say after this weekend. I've seen trailers parked in the woods for the last couple of weeks, as I'm sure everyone has. -
Finally! Heard my first bugle this morning at 6:30. Snuck in and saw his cows but they also saw me and off they went ! Bull bugled several times, rounding them up, as he headed for a canyon. Never got to see him but sounded good.

Sounds like lousy warranty. My friend sent his 15x Zeiss in for repair 2 weeks ago and was wondering how long it would take, not going to be happy when I tell him you guys are saying 2-3 months!

Looks like you've got it!

Back in the mid 80's, way before bows were super hi tech, had a guy stop by camp and bragged about taking a 100 yd shot at a big bull while driving in and missing. There are guys today that are proficient at those long distances, back then we didn't have range finders and I doubt anyone could accurately guess that yardage within a few yards. To top it off he was a Hunter Ed instructor for the G & F, I couldn't understand how he could be teaching a class about ethics and safety. Flinging arrows at game and hoping you hit it somewhere is a practice that has to stop. I've lost a deer and an elk in my 38 years of bow hunting and it's hard to take, but myself and my hunting partners did everything possible to find those animals. For those that follow up on their less than great shots, good for you. For those that don't, they should be talked to by their partners ( wanted to say ridiculed, but that's not the right word) Anyway, a miss is a miss, hopefully it's a clean miss, but if its a miss and a bad hit, everything possible should be done to find it.

Very nice! Question for you, did you know the buck was in the area or just got lucky?

Epperson's Africa Plains game Hunt with GreaterKuduLandSafaris
Elkaddict replied to GRONG's topic in Hunting in Africa
Wow, what an adventure! Great write up, you truly have a gift for words , and your pics are amazing! What else can I say, you had to be on cloud 9 the whole trip. Didn't notice what kind of hunt you traded your friends for but you better get to work and make it a good one! -
Photos wanted - not just Coues

Put it on here too, I'd like to see that! -
Had that experience a few years back with 25 to 30 lb albacore! 20 of us caught around 250, after my second I cringed when I would lob my sardine out, I knew what was coming! Can't imagine 25 to 75 lb'ers!
