Bring it up, I would like to learn the rino with you.
-
I never use the go to feature, if I am going to the waypoint I first make sure I can see it on the screen at whatever scale I need to use. Then if my gps is set for north up I start walking and make the arrow ( actually the little triangle that is my location) point towards the waypoint . Or if you have track up you put your waypoint at the top of the screen and try to keep it there, depending on topography etc. I think your problem might be with your setting of north up or track up. If the gps has a topo map in it I prefer north up. Before I had maps I used track up. I've just about confused myself, how about you?

Can't quite figure out what you mean by "mess up"

Have no idea about the rino, but I do know Garmin. If you are talking about the arrow on the map you have to start walking and it will show the direction you are going. If you take a couple of steps and stop it's not going to point right, just walk. How long have you had this gps?

Beautiful shape!

Good question, Casey. I'm sure someone on here will be able to come up with someone.

I think I found the head .

This is tough and funny!

Exactly! And like I said in the first post, get some 15's (binoculars) on a tripod, you can rent them, I believe from Ross Outdoors in Phoenix. You can cover a lot of country sitting on your butt and picking apart the mountain. Then when you see something you want to take a closer look at you can hike into that area and have an entirely different view.

Nope, i am in Colorado now watching the grand kids. Might get back for the last day of the hunt to give it one more try. Hope they are still gobbling then.

Hey Woody, got your caps lock on. FYI

The highest density of Coues are in the units south and east of Tucson. With plenty of huntable populations in the central mountains of AZ. Pick up a set of 15's, you're going to need them. Dewaynes book is spot on, he lives in San Manuel, coues in every direction from his place.

Looks like the wind will quit for a few days, should be a good weekend for the second group. I think on the first hunt we had high winds 5 of the 7 days. Tough to locate.

Just got this pic from a friend along the rim road in 5A.

I hunted this morning till 7AM. Got out of the truck at 5, with high winds and sprinkling. Walked a ridge I know they roost on, using my coyote howler early then switching to hen calls when it got light enough. I don't think a turkey could have heard me at 100 yds and I don't think I could have heard one at less than that. It's 8 AM , my hat goes off to anyone trying to hunt them with the snow, rain, and wind that is on the rim now. Good luck to anyone up here!

Wow! Where did this happen? Don't mean to derail your topic but that is quite the picture! -
Heard 1 gobbler yesterday morning at 7am and 2 this morning from 8 to 9 am. Two different areas in 5A. Haven't had any luck with owl calls before sunup. Yesterday's gobbler responded to a slate call, I moved on and tried to locate some more with no luck. I heard the first one this morning when I was checking a waterhole, 8:15AM. Then the second was a mile from that one and he answered a slate call, 8:45AM. What is everyone else experiencing? Love hearing Gobblers!

Probably won't affect them as much as it affects us. Can't hear them in the wind , very windy right now and suppose to be here awhile. I quit at 8:30 this morning, wind came up and my confidence went down.
