I have body slammed lions before. No worries with them. Illegals with bigger backpacks than mine and rifles scare me. Bret M.

Pierre, You tie a gobbler to a tree like you did to this one and I could probably even get Brian Serna to eat Croissants. He drew out with me. Bret M.

Where did you put in for hogs Bill? Your in charge of lunch on my turkey hunt in May Bret M.

Awesome!!! Bret M.

I got one of the later turkey tags and hogs in my secret hog spot. No archery bear tag... Bret M.

I wouldn't be suprised if there are a ton of those operations down there. There is a bajillion of them up here for everything from elk to whitetail and half the animals native to Africa. I know there are a bunch of desert sheep high fence operations down there. Shooting stuff at the petting zoo rocks, just ask 50% of the goofballs you see at any SCI convention. It seems like a ton of the vendors there offer canned hunts... Bret M.

That old 2 point buck I shot in New Mexico had little rounded off nubs protruding from there. I attributed it to his goofy chingered up New Mexico genes . Pretty neat either way.. Bret M.

Your crazy! But thats an awesome Muzz deer for that unit! See you this weekend in 27, me and Serna will be following you around and he will be shooting at the ones you guys pass on ! Bret M.

Thats awesome! I got schooled in unit 22 on Monday and yesterday. I saw over 40 carp does, 4 whitetail does and nary a buck, legal or illegal. I wish I would have had more than two days and worked in a few scouting trips this summer, stupid elk tags eat up alot of vacation . Congrats again, that looks like it was a fun hunt! Bret M.

I will be in 22 from Sunday-Tuesday, my buddies scouted they said they saw both flavors of deer. I trust in them I don't think I will be too picky, after all it is a new place and I didn't get to scout like I had wanted to. Bret M.

I like fires. I like how mesquite smoke smells. I am pretty sure the wind has everything to do with deer smelling you or not. Bret M.

Wide is right! Awesome deer... Bret M.

He was over 400 and he wasn't exactly standing still, with 5 minutes of hunting left in the season I figured, hey might as well let one fly . I reserve most of my misses for giant bears, but the little guy got lucky somehow. I really wanted a buck I had video'd and seen for the last 2 years pushing 110, missing the 80 incher is just more salt in the wound after spending 3 days up in the rocks looking for a ghost. I gotta NM tag for this weekend, revenge will be mine... Bret

I was there the last 4 days. I never saw another hunter, I spent Sunday-Tuesday backpacked up pretty high a few miles from the roads. I saw over 30 bucks but none worth packing out 4 miles on top of all my gear . I hunted low by the roads yesterday and missed a 80 inch 3 pointer right before dark. It was a great hunt but I never could find any good ones. I saw alot of 2x2's with nice eyegaurds and decent frames and 2x3's with the same situation, the last time I had a 33 tag the mountain was loaded with clean 3x3's. Maybe the lack of winter rain last year affected some of these bucks. Bret M.

Thats a small one for unit 27.... Bret M.

Anyone got experinces with the MSR Sweetwater or Katadyn Hiker filters? What do you like and why? I found a little weener buck that lives 4 miles and 2000 feet above the nearest road. I have a .300 Weatherby and could probably shoot him that far away but in the interest of making it sporting I may hike up and watch him and video him for a few days before I back off to about a mile and fold him up like an old map. Not packing 4 gallons of water around while I am living among the rocks and cactus would be awesome. There are plenty of tinajas and springs where this deer lives. Thanks. Bret M.

What experience do you have in 32? How much time did you scout for your client? What about general knowledge of the game hunted? If I payed for an outfitted and guided hunt and the guide had less experience than I did in that area and on the particular critter that is being hunted I would want my money back. Is that an unfair opinion to have? I reckon being a guide isn't all it is cracked up to be. Good luck, more importantly good luck to the client .. Bret M.

Road hunting was rampant there in the OTC days. I havent drawn since the went to draw so I have no idea now... Bret

I will be in 22 in NM. Not sure where I am going to hunt yet. My buddy scouted last month and saw 2 really good muleys and a few decent coues bucks. I am looking forward to bumping around a new unit over there. Bret M

Burros, pre-made foil wrapped, prefferably elk green chile or carne with beans and cheese maybe even a few egg and sausage or egg and bacon breakfast burros. Chuck them next to the fire to heat them up, or toast them over coals for a Chimi like burro. Pack lots of TP... Bret M.

Total weener buck. Keep your chewed up, bleached out, busted up skull plate having half carp dinks at the house and break out the big ones already !!! Seriously though that thing is awesome!!! Bret M.
-
Awesome job!!! But in the future try to remember rule number 1 "Friends don't let friends kill carp!" Now if he can just whack one of them giant bears like J.R.'s... Bret M.

In october I can road hunt with the windows rolled down because the weather is nice, thats makes me a little quicker poking the barrel out the window when I see one. In November and December the heater is on and the windows are rolled up making it a little longer before I get the barrel out the window to shoot. Also in December if it snows I have to use the 4WD on my Toyota alot while "stalking" deer Bret M.

I have an old 2800. It is good enough for any one day or even over night hunts. Kifarus I think just by looking at Scott Adam's are good for at least a few days of backpack hunting. If you do day hunts you should be able to get away with the Badlands just fine. I guess it boils down to what you need it for. Bret M.
