Here is one from last year from the November hunt. The biggest buck I have still ever seen was there in 2000 or 2001 I dont remember exactly when. A solid 4x4 120-125 no questions asked net type deer if there ever was one. It looked like an effing carp. They are there but the lions take a toll and the numbers and terrain just isn't as forgiving as the Southern part of the state. Bret M. -
Azyoung what you saw is not an isolated incident. Literally any stateland bear that isn't currently with a sow when the hunter decides to shoot them is legal. Until something changes this will be a pretty common occurance. Wasting the meat is a whole different legal matter. Bears are not like deer and elk and dont breed or mature near as fast and are much less in numbers here. I watched 2 little bears, apparently trophies for some, for an hour eating pears this year before the mother got out of her bed a quarter mile down the drainage from them and then went to gather them up. To alot of guys killing either of those subadult little bears would have been fine because they didn't see the sow. I don't think that is right, however using a little discretion when bear hunting apparently is a little too much to ask for. If the resource keeps getting hammered and more and more hunters go bear hunting each year then eventually it will probably go to draw and that might not be a bad thing. Thats all I am saying... I am sure that some people that draw tags will still shoot any bear they see and that is their right, but with a draw you would have a fixed amount of people in the field as well as a fixed season (hopefully) the way it is now, everyone who has 20 dollars and a rifle just goes bear hunting and in most units seasons close after 5 days. It makes it tough if you are looking for an honest old 20-21 inch bear when people are out cracking yearlings and sows that "Charged" them shutting things down. People can shoot what they want and there is nothing we can do about it but the way I see it progressing it will go to draw sooner than later and that might cut down on some of the lame cub and yearling whacking that goes on out there... I can not tell you how many dudes I have seen with 50-100 pound bears hanging, and these guys were proud!!! It is lame and shooting any bear that is small just effs it up for the guys who would really like to hold out and get a big one. Oh well, guys will keep shooting little bears and no one will do anything about it. With the shear amount of "John Wayne Bear Hunters" in this state now, it wouldn't suprise me to see it all go to draw and then maybe a guy actually would have a chance to do some real hunting and maybe get a big one every few years if he was lucky enough to draw. The way it is now you have to get really lucky to get everything to work out right before a bunch of buffoons whack every little sow or 2 year old male that sticks their head out when the pears or acorns are in and the units shut down. Move it closer to the camera bro! I can barely see it Nice horn, go arrow him, he will look good on the wall next to your bull. Bret M.

One of your options is to get ammo from a custom ammo maker. Some of my buddies shoot this guys stuff. It is always very good but not exactly cheap. http://www.cpcartridge.com/ I just got an old .264 model 700 and plan on ordering some from this guy as I dont want to shoot the factory 140 grainers which is all I can find in stores. Some of Larks buddies killed this giant bear. I will let him tell the story. Bret M.

I just turned 29 and I am more closely related to gorillas than chimps. Get your facts straight goofball. Bret M.

Hey I found lots of bears this year. Just no miniatgure grizzly bears so I let them all go. Those guys did it right and got a really good one! http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v434/bul...f070826-001.flv Here is video of two from this year I let go. I wanted to kill the first blurry red one in this video but some guys beat me to it the next day. The little fat black bear at the end wouldn't go much over 250 or so, so he got a pass until next year. Bret M.

I saw that bull it was living behind the Bashas in Eagar all summer long. I never thought he would net an inch over 391. Nice bull, I am glad someone got him, he was stomping around all over my grandparents garden and tearing up their apple trees something fierce! A real menace that one was! Nice Bull!!! Bret M.

Is Nice! Very Nice! Bret

Yeah they are there. No you can not hunt them. They are probably in other areas of the unit too. I don't think making that tag "any antlered deer" would hurt anything, if anything it might save a mule deer buck or two in a unit with a mule deer population thats is in decline. Bret M.

"I hear they are all bunched up on the reservation line!?" You heard wrong. They are scattered around quite a bit. The most I have seen were in the salt cedar thickets in the river bottom. Bret M.

You see the thing about bears is they are very mobile and hungry all the time. If there is food and water there might be a bear around whether you are in Yuma or Greer. Yes I have seen them in funny places that is not good "bear country". Mesquite flats and other weird places do not suprise me at all especially if "good bear habitat" is close by (less than 10 miles as the fat bear waddles). As far as bears are concerned as long as they have food and water they are happy I think. If you aren't seeing them in the Manzanita and high stuff look lower. There is a bumper crop of low food this year right now. FWIW I glassed pretty close to where I was last night and found no bears tonight. Bears are where you find them I guess.... Bret M.

I found 3 bears in the cactus last night right before dark. They are in the cactus if the fruit is ripe where you are looking, if it is not ripe where you are keep driving till you find ripe fruit. I was not in 24A. Bret M.

You still look like a toolbox Grong and hooray for shooting the neighborhood bull, truly a big bull and I am all for it if the hunter wanted it and everyone thought it was good and legal.... Bret M.

Go ahead and shoot them when they look like that. We dont need to see what he is gonna look like next year at that point... Bret M. -
You should know they never have matching kickers like that.... And you are still as ugly as I remember fool! Nice shed, but the other side doesn't match... Bret M.

Yes. The hunter is one of those magazine article submitting guys, maybe they will show up in one of those if he so chooses to put it in one... Bret M.

After helping several folks kill hogs this year and putting buddies on several hogs that were missed I decided to get serious on the last day and dump one. This is the biggest hog I have killed in 4 or 5 years and I am interested to see what the skull scores. Hopefully it beats 14.4 ,that is my previous best. There is a bow in the picture but I shot this one with a .223 Encore at 168 yards yesterday afternoon. Bret M.

One has killed and one has not (last I heard a week ago). The raffle tag that Bobby had has been filled and with an awesome buck at that! Bret M.

The hog is the one that looks like it was raised in Pima, you should know that goofball !!! Bret M.
