Cass Creek Predator call
bullwidgeon replied to DesertBull's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Yeah, They aren't very loud though. You might be able to work something out with a $15 Radioshack Mini Amplifier and an outdoor loudspeaker though. Hook the call up to the amp with an audio patch cable, then run the outdoor speaker to the amp. I had a Johnny Stewart Convert a Caller that the amp broke on and replaced it with the Radioshack amp and so far so good. I have my set up running off a Sony Discman playing Johnny Stewart CD's but the idea is the same so it should work. Good luck Bret M. -
Hey codger, Don't you mean "Monique, my neighbors slowest sheep" ????? Bwaaahahahahahahahahahaha! Bret M.

I look at it about like Lark does. I shot a lion 2 years ago that had to be 200 pounds if it was an ouce and lame old game and fish told me it was only 1year to 18 months old. Stinking liars. Lark whatever you say, besides someone told me once that arguing with a codger is like arguing with a pig, you just get all pissed off and the pig is still a pig. You codger.... Bret M. P.S. I have never caught a bass under 7 pounds or trout under 3 pounds. Take that

Another elk/deer slayer taken out
bullwidgeon replied to GRONG's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Even as good as that pansy Josh and his dad are at catching lions I am sure they are not going to eradicate all the cats from the areas they hunt. I have hunted in states without lions and it sucks to know you aren't going to have one come trotting out of nowhere when your out hunting. Lions add a little bit of "wild" to the entire experience for me. Bret M. -
G&F Deer survey coming out soon
bullwidgeon replied to ThomC's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Nope the other one did, but trust me you guys need to hunt December. December is where it is at . Early hunts are for goofballs who don't know what they are doing. Bret M. -
G&F Deer survey coming out soon
bullwidgeon replied to ThomC's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
No one ever kills any nice deer on the early hunts. The early hunts are a vast waste of time. All you John Wayne Big Deer Killers need to keep putting in for Kaibab, New Mexico and December coues hunts only and Game and Fish should keep things the way they are.... Bret M. -

need help in 22 w/ pigs? Please
bullwidgeon replied to buckoff's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I saw them on the river, rooting up green grass along the bank in January two times. They probably don't get too far away from the river. Bret M. -

There is always a giant herd that uses the south lake (Roosevelt) shore near where Tonto creek runs in. I am talking like a 20-30 pig herd. Look around there. There is also a big herd just across the Salt river from the Sherrifs Station area on the lower Salt. You have to figure out how to cross the river on your own. There are no roads on the 22 side of the river and the south end is 24B. Bret M. -
Here is a hog I killed out of a big herd (30+ porkers) we tracked into a catclaw patch. The hogs bedded down and we tryed to wait them out, after awhile my grandfather got impatient and got on a big rock and made me and my dad brush beat through there hoping he would get a shot. Well his little plan backfired, I jumped them, this one stopped at 25 yards. I killed it offhand with that big canon I pack around and the rest snuck out through the 8 foot deep catclaw and he got no shots. I reckon thats what happens when guys get impatient .... Bret M.

My grandfather struck back on the last morning of the HAM hunt. He got this one out of the same herd I got mine out of a week before. We had my little cousins with us being the master guides on this trip. We managed to catch the hogs before they brushed up in the 20 foot tall catclaw thicket, too bad I couldn't have got mine that way, I am still removing thorns from places where there shouldn't be thorns Bret M.

Has anyone seen pics the Mattausch Buck?
bullwidgeon replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Here is the buck. My uncle found it in velvet. It disapeared shortly after going hard horned for awhile. It showed back up during the rut and my dad finally got it in late January with his bow after it chased a doe down a trail he was sitting near. They worked hard for the deer. Not bad for archery unit 45A . They haven't had it officially scored yet (I think it has to dry longer) but it should be around 120 net or so. Bret M. -
Hey Bill, No I have not posted it yet. I may soon. We went back on the last day and the old man whacked another good hog out of the same herd I got mine in. Hope you are doing better, he told about your bad luck with your buddy in Mexico a few months back. Bret M.

The sheep in the Silverbells are fine. I know, I killed most of the goats with my bare hands, and went back and watched them rut and lamb succesfully last year. The sheep on Pusch/Catalinas disapeared and no one really knows why. They were not "hunted to exticntion". At most they only had 2 tags that I can recall a year and most of the sheep killed were old mature rams. The sheep moved around alot all the time, at times collared sheep could be found as far away as the Superstitions and Owl Heads/Tortolitas. Maybe they found the sheep in the Galiuros and went over there, Redfield ain't a whole long ways from Pusch, Romero, Cargadero and Sutherland where the sheep really liked to hang out in the old days. Maybe disease got them from some goat or sheep raiser in Catalina or Oro Valley, a 2 mile flight uphill is nothing for an infected fly. Maybe fire supression over the years on that end of the mountain allowed the jojoba and catclaw to get so tall that tigres got 'em. No one really knows. All we know is they are gone for the most part and unless people do something they will most likely remain gone. Bret M.

Check out this little weaner buck I found chasing a doe and got some video of. The video looks alot better on my 35 inch TV than this little screen on a computer. Apparently my little digital video camera ain't all it's cracked up to be once you get the video on a PC. Maybe if I get some better editing software or something I will get it figured out better. Anyways enjoy http://www.zippyvideos.com/6228736873898536/dmf060221-001/ Bret M.

Nothing like being surrounded and having to shoot your way out of the collared peccaries. If that is hog scat in your lip then you are HARDCORE! Congrats. Bret M.

I had the oppertunity to help my good buddy Roger Cook and his daughter Megan out on her very first big game hunt in Arizona last Friday. Roger scouted and scouted some more finding a large herd of peccaries in a nasty rock pile a long ways away from roads. The hogs were there when we finally got there but due to "hog fever" Megan managed to miss a few throughout the day, luckily they were homebody hogs and didn't go all that far. We picked them up 2 more times throughout the morning and afternoon and got a few more oppertunities before she finally settled down and knocked this one over at 96 yards with her .243 Remington 600. It was awesome to see a junior so fired up about hunting. The hog weighed right around 40 pounds gutted, by far the largest rock pile sow I have ever seen killed, and I have seen a bunch of 'em. Now if I can just refind the herd on Friday and lay the pistola smackdown.. Bret M.

Ginormous Jr hunt hog
bullwidgeon replied to bullwidgeon's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
The hog was ancient. Her teeth were wore flat and even one of the tusks was busted and rounded down. Her kneepads were also completely bald, it definately looked to be older than any of the other hogs we have shot out of there. Thanks for all the compliments.. Bret M. -
Jim Shockey is a canuck. According to the media, most canucks probably agree with Iran and Iran's policies more than they do for the U.S. and our policies. Bret M.
