Way to go Pat! Slight improvement from last years.

I wasn't going to bring my pistol on my son's hunt coming up. I just changed my mind. Congrats!

Congrats! You deserved it. -
I have a ruger single six three screw for sale (not modified with transfer bar). It comes with 22LR and 22 mag cyllinders. It's serial number dates it to the 1971-1972 manufacturing date time frame. 5 1/2" barrel. Condition is good. Shoots awesome. Only issue is a part of the grip is chipped off on one side. I will post pics tonight. I am asking $275 firm. I am in Tucson, but could drive as far as Picacho Peak, if someone wants to meet me. PM me with any other questions.

There are no deer in that unit.

Don't go with anyone except WGP in Tucson. He has processed 4 animals for me and does a FANTASTIC job. His number is 520-292-2262

These are photos of the same canyons in July and then in October. Amazing how things change.

Forget about asking people where the deer are. First- Go buy yourself a good pair of binos, a good tripod, a fold up stool, and a good pack. Second- Go spend a couple of days learning about the area. Use maps, google earth, the hunting reg's, etc. to learn where to start and what to try. Third- Once you find an area you like, spend some time there. You should be on the hill 20 minutes before light, ready to glass. Glassing means sitting on your stool, looking through your binos, that are mounted to your tripod. If you are free handing it, you will rarely see anything. You want to be able to see deer out to a mile away. Coues deer like to run the same trails, and keep the same habits. Once you pattern them, you have a decent chance of finding them in a similar location at some point during your hunt. Fourth- Be ready to take a shot out to 350 yards (this means PRACTICE!) Most of the guys who have success year after year have paid their dues. Even if they told you where they are finding deer, you still have to be willing to try a lot of different things, and be ready for a variety of situations to have success. So get out and do it dude!

For sale: Remington 700 BDL 30-06 with Leupold base and rings. Used for 2 hunts. Condition is excellent. Less than 150 rounds through it. I checked at Sportsmans, and they retail for over $700. I am asking $400. Face to face only in Tucson, or I will drive as far as Picacho Peak, if you want to come down from Casa Grande or Phoenix. Feel free to send me a message if you have questions.

Just looking to fund another project, and this was the rifle that was going to be sitting the longest. I am a little torn about letting it go, but so be it.

I am trying to determine the value of an M-1 carbine that I have. Condition is fair to good. Here is some information I found on the rifle. On the barrel- Inland MFG Div General Motors 8-44 On the receiver- IRCO 716XXXX Behind the rear sight- Inland Division 546XXXX Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I am considering unloading this, but don't want to give it away. I also have a Rem 700 BDL in 30-06 with Leupold Base and rings, that might go as well. Condition 9/10. I was thinking $400-450 on this one. Whacha think? Thanks, WYD

Thanks Bill and Lark. I knew you guys would eventually come through for me. Hey Lark- I have some left over Javelina sausage from the pig I gut shot earlier this year. You are welcome to a chub or two. I would even hand deliver it to your place. Anyway, I am attaching a few photos of the M-1. It has an interesting stamp on the back part of the stock that looks like two crossed rifles, in some kind of crest or something. You can see it in the last photo. I think if I could get over $1K for it, I would sell it.

I can't say that I am the best judge of the bore condition, but I would guess it has been shot quite a bit. From what I have read this type of rifle is worth at least $500, but I see lots in the 1K + range. If I sell it, I would just want a fair price.

Yesterday was my first day ever bowhunting deer. By 9:30 am I was done. I am still waiting to wake up from this dream. A lot of study and preparation went into this. I was by myself, and hoping that I would at least be able to attempt a stalk. I glassed up a little spike, put him to bed, and after about 30 minutes I was off. I started my stalk from about 1000 yards, and all went well until the wind shifted and he winded me from 73 yards. I had planned to get to 40 before taking a shot, but it was now or never. Fortunately I had added a 70 yard pin last week for such an occasion. I heard it hit, and hit hard and could not believe it. After 30 minutes of waiting, I followed the blood trail and found him. It was 90+ degrees and humid, so I had to hustle to get him home and cooled down. He is no trophy, but in my mind he might as well be a 120 inch 4X4. I can't describe how great it feels.

Thanks a bunch everyone, and congrats to all of the others who have had success!

While waiting for the season to open next week, I thought I would share a photo of my four little future archery hunters. Enjoy.

Took these photos last weekend. This is only the second time I have seen sheep. The photos were taken at about 40 yards. Either these animals are fearless, or just really dumb.
