Made a couple posts and sold a few powders but a few sales fell through and some sold so I figured I’d clean it up and post a new one with what is left. All powders are unopened 1 pound jugs, located outside Tucson. $40 each. 2 pounds Varget (Sold) 1 pound 4831 SC (Sold) 1 pound IMR 8133

For frustrating reasons I would not like to discuss, my primary deer rifle is down for now and I have a December coues tag I don’t want to turn in. Looks like it’s time to get the Model 70 243 ready to go. Planning on using Berger 95 classic hunters with H4350 or N165. I’ll be hunting 34B and am planning to keep my shots at 400 max if it’s a clean look. Wanted to ask if a lighter caliber like that presents any considerations or precautions on shots past 300 from those with experience. Last time my 243 took a deer was 20 years ago in Wisconsin hardwoods. Thanks in advance.

I changed my mind and decided to get a bipod for my hunting rifle but am looking for some opinions on the 9-13” range for the grassy areas common in the southern units. I’m aware there’s no one solution for all the situations that may arise but my thinking is I can use my pack as a rest if I need to get lower and have taller shooting sticks if I need to get up over grass. 9-13 seemed like a versatile option if I have to shoot uphill or down and I have a good rear rest to help stabilize the rifle from the prone. Thanks in advance.

Bipod Height for Southern Units

Honestly I’m still undecided what I’m going to do but I do appreciate the feedback. I’m certainly getting a tripod rest but I’m going to think the bipod over some more. There’s rarely one right answer so I think I’ll pick something and go with it. Thanks again fellas. -

Bipod Height for Southern Units

I’m considering picking up a QD tripod rifle rest so I can swap my binos for the rest quickly if I don’t have a shot from the prone. Doesn’t add much weight since I already have the tripod. That and a bipod should cover the majority of shot scenarios. Based on recommendations I think the 9-13” would work best for me. -

Ok thanks for the info. -
That there are. Even bigger in western Wisconsin. Hunted a friend’s property a few years ago in LaCrosse County and had a real stud buck walk by just out of range but he was average at best compared to the bucks that were cruising that property.
