Very cool. Love that bottom picture. Did you photoshop in the old one?

Neat bull. Very cool the kids were there to experience it

Doesn't get any better than that. Thanks for the pics

Wow!!

Not trying to hijack the thread but Dave I'll put a plug in for your youth camp since it came up. If you have a youth with a tag it is a great experience. My son participated last year and you guys made it such an awesome experience

Wow!!! Imagine finding the sheds on that second bull

Congratulations on a great tag. I had the archery hunt last year and had a lot of fun. From what I could gather the rut was down compared to some years but it was still a great time. My experience was that there were literally elk all over the unit last year. I'm sure you know a lot will move though, so scouting is mostly just to get familiar with the unit unless it's right before the hunt starts. Good luck

Yes, I know 23N was 17 points last year because I was the one who drew it. You hit the nail on the head Flatlander, I had been holding out for early rifle but with point creep it was looking like ~ 6 more years for a guaranteed tag in one of the few units I wanted. I finally decided life is too short to keep waiting for that rifle tag and put in for archery instead. No regrets at all. I had a great time. Of course, I could have killed a bigger bull if I could hunt with a rifle, but the experience was great and I got to hunt with my young sons snd get them excited about hunting elk made it perfect.

Wow! I'd call that a buck of a lifetime - but it sounds like he's about average for your family. Congratulations, gorgeous buck!

Great buck and write-up Jack. A well deserved buck. Congratulations!

Awesome buck and great shot. Way to make it happen!

Wow! Love seeing big Bulls in trail cam photos. Thanks for posting and good luck finding some of those Bulls again during hunting season!
-
Definitely. A cow bugle is part of the sequence that must be performed at the RMEF Elk Calling competitions

Very cool pictures. Some nice Bulls there - and they look well fed - look how big the body is on that bull in pic#7 - wow!

Awesome photos! Thanks for posting

I need to invest in better binos and a tripod but in the mean time here is my attempt to take a picture through my binos laying on a rock - sorry for the quality. This is from 6/20/15. I know there is another month of growing season but I would think with some of the photos posted recently that the bigger bulls must be ~90% of what they will end up. Anybody have any thoughts on how much more they'll grow?
-
Great pics Bonehunter. He definitely added a lot from 6/30 to 7/20 and interesting to see how much his fifths grew that last week.
-
Interesting thoughts. I don't have good picture support but it has seemed to me anecdotely that the big Bulls finish growing earlier than the smaller Bulls. I would have guessed in the next 2-3 weeks tops they would be pretty much done. Bonehunter, when you said you saw Bulls growing the entire month of July were some of those big Bulls that continued to add inches?
-
Just curious, are you putting them in security boxes? Is that the standard now? I'm considering getting some and putting them out but fear I'm just donating them to whoever comes by first if they're not locked up?
-
Awesome looking Bulls. Love to see them. Thanks for posting
-
Wow! Sure does look dry in those pictures but they must be getting some good feed somewhere. Will be interesting to see how much more they grow
-
Very nice photos. Thanks for sharing!

Fantastic photos! Thanks for posting them. It's fun to watch them grow. It will be interesting to see if the "crooked horn" looks any bigger this year than at the same time last year given he's a year older and the better moisture

Congrats on the tag. I have the archery tag this year up there as well. Hopefully there is one less elk for your hunt Heres hoping we get some rain soon; it's already looking pretty darn dry up there.
