    Coues shed repair/coloring

For staining the best results Ive had are with potassium permanganate. You can buy it in powder form on amazon, mix with water then brush on the antler. When mixed it turns purple, and it goes on purple but it will dry brown, just make sure to let each coat dry before applying the next one. You can add coats until you reach the shade you want, the more coats the darker they will turn out. Be super careful with the stuff, it is permanent and it will ruin clothes. As far as repairing cracks/surface, I use plastic wood filler. You can get it at Walmart in a couple different shades, apply by hand and it dries smooth and is removable if youre not happy with how it turns out. Once youve repaired all the cracks and voids, gently sand the entire surface with a fairly high grit sandpaper. After that, use the permanganate to stain them, then once they are dry and the color you want you can take the sandpaper back over the antlers to add natural looking wear around the bases and tips. If its your first time Id recommend using an antler you dont care about to see how it works and how it will turn out. Good luck!

    Side by side muley

Hit a new area this morning and it paid off, Found some water right off the bat and figured the spot would be worth checking out. Side by side sets are hard to come by in the desert! Found more snakes in total than sheds but I'll take it. Initially I thought it was only the one shed, but if you look close you can see both in the first pic.

    22-250 loads

Recently purchased a 22-250, never owned one before. I do a lot of predator calling and have always used my 25-06, but its an old rifle and was given to me by my grandfather so I decided Id rather not beat it up anymore and have an excuse to buy a new gun. I also recently acquired full access to a reloading setup. I zeroed the gun and it shoots well, .98 moa at 100. I know the gun is likely capable of more with handloads, and I was wondering if anyone had insight or a good load to start with. Im not looking for anything extremely fast or hard hitting, accuracy is my only concern. The rifle is a Remington 700 adl, 24 inch barrel, 1:14 twist. Any info or help is greatly appreciated!

    1984 M1009 $5500

Posting for a friend. He is selling his 1984 m1009 (K5 blazer) has 40668 indicated miles, but because it is an ex military Truck the mileage on the title is unknown. Clean arizona title, passed emissions in July and is good until next July. Truck has the 6.2 Detroit diesel, automatic trans (th400), 4x4 is fully functional. Np208 t case. Would make an excellent hunting rig that doesnt need any work to drive/be reliable. He took it through the gap without issue a couple weeks ago and drives back and forth to Phoenix in it so the truck is reliable. Truck runs and drives perfectly, and has a lot of new parts including: 4 lift, new leaf springs up front and shackle flip in the rear with new shocks all the way around 35x12.5r15 bfg K02s with less than 1500 miles on them New extended stainless brake lines New led headlights New led tail lights New tail light lenses Led license plate light New windshield Replacement brush guard (the one on the truck is bent) New throttle cable Converted from 24 to 12 volt New alternator belt New power steering belt Recent trans flush Recent front and rear diff fluid swap New fluid in t case T case drop kit New 3 exhaust (manifolds back) magnaflow muffler He has new seals for the top that need to be installed Comes with farm lift (hi lift) Spare 15x8 wheel M16 mounts still in tact 2 additional front seats New heater core (not installed) If interested pm me and I will give you his contact information

    22-250 loads

Thats the only round that does well in my rifle so far. I ended up with ~.75 moa group with that ammo. The rifle refuses to group flat base bullets of any weight. Ill probably stick with the 50 gr vmax, although they make 35 and 40 grain vmax boat tails that I may take a look at as well

    Side by side muley

Anyway, back to the OP, that country looks exactly like where I was hunting mule deer Friday through Tuesday. I found a matched set of sheds too. And I found a snake! This was the second diamondback over 5 ft I have run across out in that stuff. Boy, snakes that big sure get your adrenaline pumping! Wow that set does look really similar to the ones I found! Looks like those are off a more mature buck, I like the junk on the bases. And yes the rattlesnakes are still out and about, Im just glad theyre not out as much as they were the last couple months. I dont ever remember seeing as many snakes as I did this summer
  18. Still paying 12.50 for brown? Im assuming hes not buying anything other than brown/hard white?

    Help aging buck

Agreed, younger bucks seem to have long narrow snouts. I know this buck is at least 8+, most likely more. I have a shed from when he was a yearling that looks like it had been laying out there for a decadeYou have his yearling shed? I'd like to see a pic of that!!! Actually it turns out I have one more of his sheds than I thought, I have 5 total. A buddy of mine has a side from in between the 2nd and 3rd sheds in the lineup. Its easy to tell theyre all his sheds because he has a very unique set of Pedicles that have a raised part on the inside. The pic of all of them is In chronological order for everything I have off him, with the newest shed having been dropped in 2016. He is a floater and Ive found his sheds spread out over a fairly large area, no matches yet Yearling shed Left side bases Right side bases

    6 Day Growth

Angles and contrast in night photos can be deceiving. They can make a deer look much bigger or smaller than he is. I had a 180 class non typical come in for some night photos, and the antlers lit up with a black background looked huge, of course I freaked out. Then a few days later he came in for some daytime photos and I almost didnt think it was the same deer. If not for unique antler characteristics I would have guessed it was a different buck altogether. He went from pushing 200 to 180ish real quick. Sweet buck, Id guess 28-29 wide and somewhere in the 170s
