    Big lake tips for beginers?

My recommendation would be Bartlett Lake, not too far from Pleasant. Not a lot of size in that lake but every time I have gone we have caught quite a bit of fish, perfect for the youngsters.

Inflatable Kayaks - Anyone using one for fishing?

I have used inflatable and standard kayak for fishing many times. Much better then a tube and I would definitely recommend over a pontoon. Lol Have to work a lot harder but can get you into spots much easier, especially if you’re bass fishing.

    Canyon lake

No word on Canyon but I was at Bartlett a couple weekends ago and the bass bite was solid. Typical Bartlett, not much size but good action.

    Saguaro

No I havent been to Sag, but I actually fished from the shore at Bartlett 2 weekends ago and caught 6 bass in about 30 minutes. Nothing over 1lb but they were smoking it, texas rig!

    Lake access

The east valley lakes just have the normal issues of too many people out there on the weekends but no restrictions at night that I have seen or heard of. I was at Saguaro last month past 8pm and got right in.

    Lower Black River

I am heading up there next Friday. Hoping the water has slowed and cleared up by then based on the dry weather these past couple weeks. I will let y'all know how it looks.

    Tonto Creek Fishing Report

So hit up the Tonto Creek near Gisela on Saturday, as reported above the water flow was minimal and levels are low. We were able to hike in and found a deep pool where I caught a nice 3lb small mouth and couple other smaller ones (8-10 inches). I was with my mom so wasnt able to keep hiking the river as much as I would have liked, but there are some small mouth in the deeper pools if you can get to them. After Gisela we just drove up to Khols Ranch and fished the creek, a lot of decent trout swimming around we caught 3 on some power bait.

    Tonto Creek Fishing Report

Hello, Taking my mother fishing this weekend, has anyone done any fishing recently or heard reports on the lower Tonto Creek near the Gisela area before it converges into Roosevelt? I know there are small mouth and trout in there but I cant find any reports on how the bite has been. Any information would be greatly appreciated, please feel free to just DM me if you prefer that. Thanks

    Tonto Creek Fishing Report

I have no problem sharing information, I have always answered peoples questions and posted my success or lack there of when asked. I may have not openly reported back about every trip I have taken, but I have never intentionally ignored requests for info. But I understand what you are saying, I will report back how it goes this weekend Cool man, I just noticed your last topic went unanswered, and we like reports too!! Not a report per se, but I can tell you that the Tonto Creek above Gun Creek USGS gauge is at 2 CFS right now, and it has been dryyyyyyy. Very few pockets of water remain anywhere near Tonto Basin. Thanks man I appreciate you sharing that, I will definitely share what I find up there.

No Fish on the Lower Black!!!!!

My friends and I have been up to the Black 4 times this year most recently in early October and fishing was lights out every single trip! Although we never fish near where the black turns into the salt like you described. Hopefully the algae bloom and parasites dont move further up river too far.
  15. I was thinking of fishing some new parts of the Black this year. I know the best fishing is along the lower/south portions of river. But wanted to switch it up and was thinking of fishing up river a bit more, just to the SE of where the White merges with the Salt. Anyone had any luck fishing for small mouth bass up in that part of the river?

Small Mouth Fishing on the Black River

Anyone been up recently in the last few weeks since the monsoon storms have died down? Curious how the water level and clarity is...

Small Mouth Fishing on the Black River

My buddy went up 2 weeks ago and said the water level is high and clarity is not that good. Also, roads can be extremely bad this time of year with all the rain so make sure you have a winch.

    Fishing on Verde River

Isn't the Verde always kind of muddy looking though? (The Dirty Verde) HA

Small Mouth Fishing on the Black River

I know im must just trying to take the easiest driving roads possible until I get a new truck, my current truck is on its last leg. Have you fished up near Elwood or Canyon lately or heard recent reports? Last reports I could find for those spots were in 2013 when fishing was "decent" but still a few years away.

Small Mouth Fishing on the Black River

Thats cool man, I am heading up this weekend. I'll probably be a bit more up river then you were since I am coming in from San Carlos side, was thinking either near Elwood Canyon or Coupon Tank. I have never fished either of those spots but from what I hear they used to be really good before the fire but havent heard much about them since. Hoping I can get into some 2-3 pounders though!!!

Small Mouth Fishing on the Black River

If you're catching 2-3lb small mouth bass pretty consistently that is dang good fishing in my opinion!! What part of the river did you fish?
  25. jjwilli1

    Black River

That water level does look pretty high compared to normal, but at the same time it still looks pretty darn clear! Were you guys purposely fishing for cats or was that the only thing biting? Also, what part of the river did you fish? I am heading up this weekend to hopefully get on the small mouth bite that should be picking up soon so any further information you could share would be awesome. And to answer your question a lot of people do fish the white river but most the fish pulled out of there dont have much size but you can usually do pretty well half a mile or more up from where it converges. I see more rattlers and bears up the white river then I do on the black so that may be a deterent to some.
