Fellow hunters, I try to approach these highly controversial subjects with an open mind. I will preface my comments with the fact that I love running trail cameras and have used them for about 15 years. I also have tremendous respect for most guide services and their guides. I also can appreciate the passion on both sides of this issue. The challenge I face with the trail camera debate is it has changed public land hunting and created more controversy over water especially. I respect Sir Royals opinions, however I have seen it on more than a few occasions in Arizona. A guy is sitting water early archery and another hunter has driven 2 hrs to check camera and it's his only available time to do so. A heated debate almost coming to blows ensues. Not uncommon. I challenge most of you fellow hunters to ask if you would feel comfortable in most units putting an unlocked camera on known water sources?! I have had multiple cameras in multiple units stolen in lock boxes....not by guides but by fellow hunters. I even run dummy cameras and have got pictures of guys cutting bolts off. I now run most cameras high using tree steps to access. Once a " trophy" animal is seen on a camera, on a particular water, many people's mentality about that area changes... it's factual data. Like most privileges in life that get restricted, the cause is often contentiousness amongst those that value it the most but also abuse it to a degree it ultimately gets regulated. Unless we unitedly work on teaching ethics and morals to the next generation it will continue to spiral downhill. I have heard of Sir Royal doing some great things for young folks....thank you sir! I have run into some great outfitters making people hunting dreams come true...thank you! We are getting fired up on " the effect"....let's start showing the same zeal working on "the cause". Respectfully, Mark B

Hey all, Hope everyone's 2021 is off to a good start and you and your families are doing well. Just throwing this out to gather thoughts and opinions ahead of the elk draw. My buddy from Michigan's 17 year old daughter has 6 elk points as non-resident and I am hoping to help her kill her first bull elk as a graduation gift. We are looking to put her in for late bull and I will be scouting multiple weekends leading up to the hunt to give her the best shot possible. She is knocking on the door of the bonus round for a few units 4a, 6b, 7W, 8, 9 and should be guaranteed 22N both late hunts. She's a stone cold killer with 5 eastern whitetail bucks, 1 mule deer, and one cow elk under her belt and shooting 500+ yards is not an issue. Our goal would be to shoot a decent 280+ bull.......thoughts????? Appreciate it, Mark

Howdy, I honestly don't know. On this ranch with a good trail system to get utvs close to the animals and a great cleaning/ processing set up it makes sense to get out of the field quick and hanging. I will say the process they use was new to me but now I really like it and it is very clean and meat seems to have less chance of contamination unless of course we make a lousy shot. Good luck in the draw sir!

Yotebuster, Very well could be. The genetics in there produces split g3's on quite a few deer.

Man, That's where it's at! Not sure if you have any kiddos older than her but if not treasure every moment....in a blur they are grown. Her pony tail matches fox tail the way she's holding it π€£ Thank you for bringing some clarity to the muddy waters we call "a hunting forum" and good luck in the draw!

Yessir, Actually all last years except one. We saw probably 20 still holding antlers which I was really surprised by. Alot of marshy bottom ground in that area and they do real well!

Honestly, very mixed feelings by all I've talked to who's prepared and ate it. We roasted one whole while out there and it was pretty good. Some parts were a little stringy but I bet with a little love would make some good pulled pork sandwiches. I made a mess of breakfast sausage so we shall see. Good luck to you in the draw young man!

The suspense of what I did/didn't draw was killing me so we headed to my buddies ranch last week in Texas for spring break......thought by pretending I didn't care about the draw it would happen π sorry to change the subject....figured it couldn't hurt!

Couesdeerhntr, I agree with your thoughts. It's crazy how degraded the content has gotten and how much disrespect for people's opinions ones feel at liberty to express. I by no means am implying that there are not good, salt of the earth folks on here, but what happened to being interested enough in someone's expressions that we asked adult, respectful questions when we disagree or don't understand. I tell my son that this forum is like hunting camp with the guys. We love each other but also rag the heck out of each other every chance we get. Nothing personal, even though it appears to be. That reasoning, wildly imagined, is why I keep coming back and sharing our memories moments in the field. Good luck in the draw!!! Mark

Great bow for kids. Adjustable draw length and weight. Set at 24 lbs and 22" but can be adjusted for growth.

Great starter bow for kids.

We received a gracious invite from our buddy in Texas to bring Max out for a 4 day youth hunt on his lease. Needless to say Max put the 6.5 PRC and crossbow to work. Freezer is full and memories made to last a lifetime.

The mouflan rams were tough to find on this hunt and on the last evening we located 3 and he was the biggest. Definitely an awesome animal! Thank you!

Appreciate your insight. I'm all about hard work and finding big ones in units most turn thier noses up to. Helped a guy from south Carolina last year on an archery bull hunt in a unit biologist said it was near impossible to scratch out a 350 bull and had my guy on one 350+ 3 times.

Appreciate your opinion and both of those are on the top of my list. 22n and I have a love/ hate relationship. I helped 5 guys in a row kill bulls on both seasons and last year took an older gentleman for 3 days with high hopes and could barely turn up a handful of cows. I guess I was due a lesson in humility. 3b muzzleloader has always intrigued me but not sure I could do it justice because of how far it is from home. Thanks again, Mark

Couesdeerhntr, Appreciate your post. I to am very healthy, no underlying health issues and have no concerns about getting the virus. I wear a mask because I care about my neighbor, I have empathy and I feel compassion for others. Life is a gift and we are taught to love our neighbors as ourselves. If there is a 1% chance that wearing a mask could protect a vulnerable individual than I am all in and I will teach my family the same principles because I am modest, yes I have free will but that comes with consequences good or bad, and if the worst thing that comes is I teach my son that the world doesn't revolve around him and being uncomfortable is sometimes necessary to show true love and empathy than I guess I can sleep well. Stay safe all, Mark

Nice job man! I love going into tough units and proving the statistics wrongπ

Absolutely awesome πthat raw emotion although tough in the moment is so important to cherish. It's a serious thing that our creator allows us to manage his creation here and it sounds like this young man loves the outdoors. Good job to you on raising him right and a big congrats to him on a great buck!
