What part of call the sheriff do people not understand? If you have somebody basically in your front yard discharging a firearm is an issue the sheriff can deal with. You're lucky if you have one game and fish officer on duty in the unit. There are many more sheriff's deputies available. If during the process of investigating the complaint of firearms being discharged in a town or a residential area the sheriff's deputy believes that game violations may have also occurred he can detain said individuals until the game and fish officer arrives to investigate those.

An upholstery might be another option.

Years back I had an individual who was going door-to-door looking for donations for UNCF try to put a guilt trip on me for being a racist because I declined to contribute. I had to politely explain to said individual that I was by no means a racist and I did have a policy of not contributing to racist organizations. I continued to point out that the organization he was representing consistently used race as the basis to choose who they provided Aid. Because he chose to represent them I figured he was the racist. The poor guy guy about had a meltdown at the end of that conversation. I am in no way condemning UNCF, I think what they do is great. The fact remains that they, and other scholarship funds, provide assistance based on an individual's race. In my book that's racial discrimination.

Lots of scholarships come with specific requirements attached. Would this principle favor Banning scholarships from the United Negro College Fund because they did not provide scholarships to white, hispanic, Asian, or Native American students?

He looks tasty! Are you going to serve him up with a nice side dish of chrony? For me it's any antlered tag soup. I hear that stuff is supposed to be twice as bad as the single species tag soup. Congratulations on the buck.

I am going to help out on a elk hunt in a few weeks and decided to update the MVUM, that no one seems to follow, on my 2 GPS units. Both are Garmin etrex 20's. Both units already had the 2015 MVUM in them. The first unit updated quick and easy. The MVUM updater will not detect the second unit. The GPS acknowledges the USB connection. Basecamp will detect this GPS. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem without using a hammer?

Yea, I used to say that to. Breaking an ankle on a solo hunt while packing out an antelope and having to crawl a mile in the dark just to get to camp where there was still no cell coverage changed my mind. I have had a few days at work that were a little better than that.

I just got back from my deer hunt. Started out with 2 other hunters in camp. Chris, my hunting partner of 30 years, and Joe, a veteran we guided for Hunts for Heroes. Joe was so much fun to have around we invited him to apply for deer with us. Chris had to leave Sunday afternoon, Joe left Tuesday morning and I stayed till Thursday by myself. With other people there or by myself I'm fine. I have done 10 day hunts solo. I guess I am more concerned about hunting than needing company. Well, until I put a bullet or arrow in something, then company is very welcome. You did say it was a unit down south didn't you? There is plenty of company available. Just pack extra burgers and dogs and invite a group of illegals for dinner.

Sounds like you need to develop a multiple personality disorder.

I just got back from a week-long hunt and never saw a buck that nice. Congratulations to your wife.

Can anyone recommend a quality holster with MOLLE mounts that would fit a small pistol like a Kahr CW40?

They can call Tom at 480 760 3868. He's had a lot of Deer tags donated already and may not be able to use all of them. There have also been a lot of elk tags donated and the priority right now is to get veterans and volunteer guides matched up to those.

I thought about it a few years back and after looking at the area boundaries around Camp Verde decided not to do it. You are pretty limited on where you get to hunt. It's something I might be willing to try some year when I didn't have other tags myself or wasn't helping friends out with their tags.

What a beast! Congratulations

Good info right there. Very handy tip. For anybody wanting to give it a try there is an advanced version of the technique where you drape the chain over the tire and then drive onto the block.
-
If you're going to chain your truck cut a piece of 4 x 4 that will fit between the rails and crossbars of the chains when they're laid out flat and straight. Lay the chain out can place the four by four a few sections up from one end. Drive up on to the 4 x 4 then pull the long end of the chain up and over the top of the tire to connect to the other end. Tighten up the chain and drive off the 4 x 4. It's a trick we used to chain up tractor trailers.

Is the deer required to butcher his kill and save the meat or is he allowed to just trophy hunt?
-
ATV / UTV ? Chains are usually pretty easy to install if the vehicle is jacked up and the tire is off the ground. You got to do that to change the tire anyway. If I were only going to run 2 Chains I would put them on the rear axle.

Great shot and a beautiful buck. Well I guess I'll go take my rifle for another walk.

Litz's test results for .308 210 ABLR. G1 0.646. G7 0.331
-
I bought a box of them and quickly concluded the publish BC was a bunch of crap. I think Litz may have tested some ABLR bullets and come up with more realistic BC's for them.

Does the buck have any brothers? Those big four points sure look sharp. Congratulations to your brother.

Have you ever seen those cans of monkey butt powder that some motorcycle and ATV shops have? It's supposed to make your rear end feel better after you've been riding too long. Does anybody make something like that for your eyes after you've been glassing too long?

I went scrounging through camp this morning for something that might work and I found a tube of Carmex. It's working great so far this morning. If I had not thought to give it a try your suggestion would have definitely just made the rest of my hunt a lot more comfortable. Thanks for the input.

Aren't we just full of bright ideas?
