Best spot to go shooting skeet and handguns after work?
galiuro mountain man replied to PhxDT's topic in The Campfire
At least most clays are just that and disappear. Beer bottles are there forever, usually part of why the state or blm says you can't target shoot in areas anymore. -

If you would have posted this a couple weeks ago, I would have sent you all of mine. Just converted my old cabinet into welding cabinet and threw that stuff away. -

Stay in the city and go to ranges to shoot. There is no more room out in the sticks.

Arrows with broadheads screwed on them, and not in my tackle box. Oh and a knife, sucks to gut a deer with a truck key. -
Who's Not Afraid to Hunt Down South?
galiuro mountain man replied to John O's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
It isnt only the border units. I live in Duncan and we find stuff from illegals around here pretty regularly. There are 3 of us going south on friday and we arent worried, but we do all carry pistols at least, even around here. You just have to pay a little attention to your surroundings, and not let them know you are there. You are supposed to be bowhunters and sneak up to deer, it should be fairly easy to get around people without them knowing. That is the way I look at it and I go south to hunt fairly often. -
I know what you meant, but how long is it until archery deer opens again?

I thought one of the first things you learn is dont shoot yourself.

I can show you a cool clock I made to give you other ideas. As soon as I find it.

You can also get plate off ebay for a decent price. Make sure it is AR500 or higher armor steel. Another thing to look at is if they say it is waterbath plasma cut, this helps keep the hardness. I have a couple 3/8" plates and have dimpled them with accubonds at 300 yards with a 300 mag so my next plate will be AR550 or AR600 steel. 1 1/4 fence post works good for the frame. It is pretty light and cheap, just dont shoot it.

I have a 264 LBC and cant find Lapua or AA brass anywhere. I have found some Hornady for it but was wondering if anyone has used it for their LBC or Grendel. I had some Hornady brass, but my first barrel had a small problem and ruined it all, so I went to the harder AA brass. If anyone is using Hornady brass, does it hold up well to near max loads, and how many loads do you get out of it before you see problems with it? Hornady brass is softer and I hope it holds up, that LBC/Grendel is a wicked little round.

How is it holding up as far as longevity? -
Want to get into reloading
galiuro mountain man replied to coueser4's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Like Wayno said, figure out the bullet weights you want to run for each caliber, then powder choice is easier. Go to Hodgdens website and look at loads for each caliber, find a powder that turns good speed and lower pressures for that speed and compare all calibers for the bullet weight you want to run. You may end up with two or more powders if you want a light for caliber bullet in one gun and a heavy for caliber bullet in another, but it is possible to get one that works for all. Bullet weights are only compairable in that specific caliber. For example, on my 30Ackley type II a 180 grain bullet is a lighter bullet, but for a 308 it is a heavier bullet. Also for the Ackley I run H4831, but if I were to go to 200gr or more I would be better suited with something like Retumbo. One thing that I like to do also is find a powder that pretty much fills the case when loaded. Most of the extruded powders will do this, but dont meter as well through a thrower.
