I hunted the restricted last fall, shot a cow on opening evening. I ended up sitting water but they hadn't had any moisture in a while. I camped in the primitive area, I think it was $4 daily fee. There is a Loves gas station one exit down from the Camp Navajo exit that has ice, just take a big enough cooler and go buy ice when you get one down. There are a ton of roads in there. I was able to almost drive right to my elk. You have to remove EVERYTHING except the gut pile so be prepared for that.

I have been really impressed by the Parker bullets.

Cva paramount or rem ult

Little late but I have the Paramount and love it. Get the ignition module from Arrowhead and I sent mine off (2019 model) to have the barrel threaded and have a brake installed by LR Custom. Shoots lights out with 103 gr (by weight) of Buckhorn and a 300 grain black max bullet. My son shot his coues with it last year at just under 200 yards. -
Thanks Shane, message sent.

2 kids hunting 35a deer/javelina help!
aziator replied to Dadof3's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
If I am in town I would be more than happy to show you a few spots. I have 4 kids and they all have some sort of Elk hunt and 3 of them have a Nov youth deer hunt so I will be pretty busy but PM me. Like others have said, it can be pretty thick and there are some long shots to be taken. If I can help out, I will. -
Thanks Sonny, coming from southern AZ. Appreciate the info, exactly what I am looking for to get zeroed in on a few areas.

My wife drew last year and we hired a guide. We were some of the only people shooting crane. Wouldn't you know she drew again this year, already booked the same guide. Huge decoy spread and lots of shooting in his blinds.

Hi all, been lurking a long time and appreciate all the things I have learned from the forum. My son drew the NM Youth hunt in unit 17 in Oct and looking for some tips. I have never been to the area and I am currently overseas in Iraq for work. It doesn't look like I will have much time between getting home and the hunt to do much scouting so I am trying to maximize my e-scouting and map studies. My plan is to get over there as much as a week before the hunt starts to check some areas that I will narrow down prior to going over there. My son will join me the day before the hunt due to school. This will be our first bull elk hunt and we are pretty excited about it. Any tips for base camp locations and past successes are appreciated. Thanks!
