    Come test your skills

My dad is a subscriber to that Long Range Magazine that the Davidsons have out.(Best information I've ever read on wind doping has been from that magazine). They seem to have write ups on shoots similar to this, and the knowledge at these events seems to be amazing.

You would not be throwing a monkey wrench in at all. If you like to shoot, send some out there!

    Long Range Get Together

This is what I know on my end. I was planning on shooting a .338 in this shoot, and I know of about about 4 others who are not on this site bringing .338's for sure. A couple other guys are on the fence, but 4 for sure. I also have a buddy bringing a 300 RUM and possibly a buddy bringing a 300 Win Mag. The only guys on this site that I know of shooting are Tac, Perkele and Lance. So if your going to shoot, post and let us know.

    Long Range Get Together

That was the idea Lance. But if you want to connect and we have tricky or high winds, you might want to bring extra rounds lol. As far as big or small bore classes, I don't see a need only shooting to 1300yds. Let's be honest, you can have a custom .338 with a 32" Hart barrel, LRKM style, Nightforce optics, I mean just a B.A setup. But if you don't know what the heck your doing on the reloading bench and with a ballistic program and why, Joe Smith with his 300 Win Mag with Vortex optics, pushing a 200 class SMK or what have you, with low e.s and/or sd and knowledge of a his ballistics program is going to show up and shoot circles around you at 700yds plus.

    Long Range Get Together

No velocity limits. Alot of screaming fast loads out there that have extremely high e.s. I would personally sacrifice speed for lower e.s all day, but thats just me. Don't care what your speed is, bring any rig you want.

    Long Range Get Together

Yes Sir, Feb 18th it is! I don't have to work in February so I will have alot of time a couple days prior to get it all set up. Still may need a couple targets, but I will let ya know. Just call or text me if you are interested @ 6025263246 and I will give you directions. I don't know exactly where yet but we have it narrowed down to two spots. Both are close to Pleasant. We should all throw in $10 or so, winner take all, thatd be so fun ha. 10 targets, 600yds to 1300yds, if you hit you get a point. Take the top points at the end and if their is a tie shoot the course backwards and add em up. Anybody else on here bringing a .338 or bigger? Just curious

    Long Range Get Together

We have the 18th of February planned. We have two spots narrowed down, both are northwest of Lake Pleasant. The roads are in good shape, so a good two wheel drive with a little clearance should be all you need depending on rain. If the weather is horrible that weekend, we will push it to the next, but hopefully we won't have to. We are thinking about 12 or so targets from 600yds to 1300yds. We were thinking about doing one shot per target for the little competition, kind of a cold bore hunting scenario imitation. But if some of you want to do golf scores we could discuss that to. I know some of you said you could bring some targets, please text me in the beginning of February and let me know where you stand on that. I think we have it covered, but I dont know. Call or text me in the beginning of February if your coming so we can get a head count, and I can give you directions to where we choose. I will no longer be participating on this site, so don't PM me as I will not get it. Happy hunting! (602)526-3246 Jake Jaycox

    Meat Bucks

Dad and I had two coues tags day after Thanksgiving. We weren't able to put a ton of time into the hunt, so our expectations were not very high. We decided we would not shoot anything under the 80"ish range until Monday morning. The first 3 days we saw probably 5 or so bucks. Passed on a couple small bucks, and the one big one we saw(mid 90" range, that's big to me lol) was on a bluff line about a mile and half out and disappeared quick. So Monday morning rolled around and about 20 minutes into it, I glassed up a little meat buck. We always have the gun down in a comfortable place, and the essentials ready for a long range shot, because thats how we pick our spots. IMO you can glass them up at long range distances all you want, but if you can't get down on the gun, your done as far as a long shot goes. Dad ranged 760yds on the BR-2, and had a 3-4mph 3:00. He dialed it up, and got back on his glass. I was rock solid on the buck and level as he stood broadside, and was slightly preloaded. As I waited for correction calls or redialing if needed, all's I heard was "send it." Not one second later the 300gr Berger was on the way. Shot was perfect, just behind the front shoulder. Being a long packout, we took the rest of the day off. Tuesday morning had us finding the mid 90's buck agian in range, but not getting it done. Last day we had to hunt was Wednesday. We started our walk in to our spot and I thought to myself how tough my dad is. 65 years old with Parkinson's disease for 7 years, still hiking about a mile gaining about 1000 feet of elevation in desert country, every day of the hunt. My hat's off to you. We glassed up another meat buck, and being our last day, we were guna try to double up. I was now spotter and dad was shooter. The buck kept moving down and my elevation solution kept changing. Than the buck made a fatal error and decided to bed. We took our time. I ranged 864yds, and dialed 17.5 minutes elevation. I had a 2-3mph 9:00 wind, so I dialed 1.2 minutes left with spindrift. I told my dad hold a little forward if anything. Their was brush in the way in front of the buck so my dad said "get the critter call out of my pack and give a couple bleats." I hit the call about three times and the buck stood up but never moved location. Gun went boom and as I spotted, it looked like someone shot that deer point blank with a 30-06. Perfect behind the shoulder shot. After another challenging packout, a couple beers at Roosevelt Lake Resort were in order ha. It's amazing when your e.s(extreme spread) is in the single digits, how accurate these long range rigs can be! Shout out to my buddy Kris for help with packouts!
