Just a thought, but with all of the 33 tag reductions, I bet hunts in southern units (like 36A) that normally have leftovers, won't have them anymore. It makes sense that some people would put hunts like the Nov 36A hunt as 3rd/4th/5th vs leaving them off of the app. I think the days of leftover rifle tags are going to be gone... maybe even this year.

I'll have a bow in my hand, but looks like 4 guys in my group have coozer tags. Will be interesting to see which hunts.

LOL. Here we go.

Close the skies!

Yep, not to mention most smartphones and apps can turn off location based services. Either completely or on the app level. Unless they required location for use for some reason... but I don't see why they would do that.

I don't think you need to draw any line.

I'm not arguing that technology has changed. What I'm asking is... what is the point of having a muzzleloader specific season? It was my understanding that muzzy hunts were designed/created for a hunt that you had to get closer to the animal than if you were hunting with a rifle. Do you disagree with that? What's funny is that I am advocating for LESS regulation. Convert the muzzleloader hunts to an any weapon hunt. Sounds like you would be on board with that.

I think the point people are pointing out is - what's the point of having a specific hunt for muzzleloaders when they perform just like rifles? I thought the hole idea for having hunts specific for muzzleloaders was because they weren't effective out to the range of a rifle. They challenge you to cut the distance to 100-200 yards (for most) vs being able to shoot a deer from 750 yards. It defeats the purpose if you ask me. Just make the hunt a rifle hunt and if you want to use your super long range muzzleloader on a rifle hunt, then more power to ya.

Exactly. What's the point of separating it from a rifle tag?

Coconino NF to fully CLOSE Wednesday 6/23/2021
bigbuckclub replied to Red Rabbit's topic in The Campfire
I know some folks up there that would know and they are going to close it. Sounds like they are going to start going around today to tell campers to pack up and leave. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I heard from someone I would consider reliable. Bummer too, we had plans to head up there for July 4th weekend. -
Saw the smoke from 34a. Hope they jump on it quick.

I also use it. It's a really good app.

G&F commission voted unanimously to ban trail cams
bigbuckclub replied to huntlines's topic in The Campfire
This is where I fall on the issue. Should have started with the units that have the obvious camera problems. Frankly, there isn't a camera problem outside of those specific units. I am kind of excited about hunting the Kaibab without the camera checkers everywhere.... if only I could draw a tag for myself! -
Where are the posts about how G&F hasn't posted results yet

My card was hit this morning... the rest of you are screwed. -
Those numbers can be kind of misleading though. Some residents grab a tag just to have in their pocket and go out for maybe a day or two. Many don't actually hunt January either because then you can't put in for rifle hunts in the fall. I would venture a guess that 90% of those Non-Res guys are here in Dec/Jan. This is anecdotal though... so maybe I'm wrong. That's just been my experience with people I know well.

Frankly, this isn't true at all.

I did all of mine Monday, no issues.

I had mine done in southern California when I was living out there so can't recommend places, but I will tell you that it was the best money I've ever spent in my life. Lasik is amazing. I would have paid double what I did for it. Good luck! Edit: I paid something like $4k-4.5k in 2015.

This is especially true if you are in a city with a rental car. It happened when I was with my old company in Austin. We went to watch the college football national championship right after our plane landed and had company laptops, phones, and other items in backpacks stolen. They broke the window in the parking lot. Police said it was a common issue for them to target cars with rental tags.

My family has had great experiences in Rye. I went to a RideNow and one of the sales guys told me I didn't want a 4-seater because I would be responsible for the safety of 3 passengers and that's a lot of liability. I had no response for that nonsense. It's a wonder they stay in business.
-
I would be 100% in favor of this.
-
Well in that case, those that want that hunt will have a higher quality hunt and whatever tags remain can go into the leftover scrum. I don't really see an issue with that.

***URGENT 2021-2022 ARCHERY DEER OTC HUNT RECOMMENDATIONS***
bigbuckclub replied to 68OLDS's topic in The Campfire
I'll just be bummed that after I don't draw my late kaibab tag I won't be able to go make a fool of myself and fail miserably sitting for coues in August. Assuming things eventually go to a draw completely. -
NR archery tags should be a draw IMO. But... probably too much money at stake for that to happen.
