Some good information here...thanks guys for all the help. I think i am starting to understand the points and draws. My son is a Arizona resident and i am in St George Utah, he keeps telling me i need to move to Arizona since thats where i do 90% of my hunting...Im beginning to think he is right. I hunted 23 back in the mid 90's and struck out, i then hunted 24b for a few years and did pretty good, then 16A about 5 years ago that was a tough hunt but we pulled a Javelina out after 4 days of hunting. The one animal i really want is a nice Coues but i just keep striking out, one of these days!

Where did you find this, i have been all over the website?
-
I noticed today that there are only 150 tags for 24b archery, that doesn't sound like very good odds.
-
I thought i remembered that 23 was harder to draw. Thinking we may just put in for 24b archery. I'm not real familiar with anywhere else.
-
Even the rifle hunts? I was actually looking at putting in for 23 or 24b archery or HAM with my son. I thought they used to publish them but its been probably 10 years since i have hunted them

I am going to pick up some of the new Federal upland in 7 shot, kent faststeel and winchester and see how they pattern at 30 yards as i would guess that is my average distance for gambles.
-
Yotebuster were those Federals 3/4 oz loads? I see a lot of steel in 3/4 but not as much in 7/8 or 1.
-
You might be right, i am going to pattern a few different steel offerings and see what it looks like on paper. I will definitely bring lead along on the first hunt, just in case the steel doesn't pan out. I just cant see spending $25-$30 for a box of 20 gauge shells.

I am headed down next weekend to do a little hunting with my son around the Casa Grande area, hopefully we get into some birds. i will let you know how it went. I know he has been getting into them every time he has gone out.

I will be driving down for my hunt leaving Colorado on November 26th staying the whole week if needed, what can i expect for pressure ? Will there be hunters on every hill? I have hunted it for Javelina in archery and never really saw anyone but i have a feeling rifle deer may be alot different.
-
I can believe that, i have a buck tag for this upcoming weekend and they gave out 355 additional tags for this area between 2nd and 3rd seasons, orange army is going to be crazy this weekend. What part of the state were you hunting?
-
Thank you, as it gets closer i may get a hold of you.Elk and deer are tough this year in Colorado as the temps are still in the mid-low 70's everyday when we should be in the upper 50's.

Some great information in here, thanks everyone for the advice. Not sure i want to be 10 feet from a lion starring at me, might have to clean out the pants!
-
So i will be hunting 24B last week of November / first part of December for coues deer, would it be wise to spend the money for a lion tag?
-
Great looking buck! Congrats!
