    Antelope permits down.

I'll probably give it another try if I can get one with good fur, the one I tried was head shot and it stunk worse than a gut shot elk. I'll make the kids do it if they get any tomorrow, they want the pelts.

    Antelope permits down.

Best fun I ever ha was hunting them off snowmobiles or the back of pick up trucks in Washington state on a few ranchers property, those were the good old days. Antelope eaters in seligman drew a ton of people. was one of the best tournies out there. I believe Don (think that was his name) out of kingman ran those with the kingman sportsman club from the beginning. when the antis decided to change the laws it slowly went down the hill with less and less participation. The raffle tickets prises after that werent bad they had fantastic giveaways

    Antelope permits down.

Thats the other problem, no one wants them, I can see your point on that. I have the mindset that a yote especially a desert yote is just Ballistic jelly and nothing more, just like p-dogs. Foxs and cats on the other hand I would do something with. I tried the skinning of a yote one time in nov. north of wickenburg. Nastiest thing I ever skinned

    Weather report

edge we are going to up your way tomorrow, hoping for lots of snow in the hills. heres a pink for radar just click pan zoom I been unsig it since they started it, have it linked to a few websites. its pretty good realistic close to real time info alot better than most. http://www.intellicast.com/National/Radar/Metro.aspx?animate=true&location=USAZ0166 about 3 hours ago everything from just north of white tanks to new river was snow(ie blue color) heard bartlett lake is getting snow
  6. No shoot, when dad Retired from the navy we moved to puyallup, south hill cherokee park sub division. we moved there in 77 or 78 I left dec 1981. guessing you went to puyallup high or kinick middle school? I went to Rogers on south hill That area was my favorite place for fishing and hunting, especially the very late high mountain deer hunts in nov. the fishing up in those high mountain lakes were off the hook. in 1981 we had a huge snow storm during the hunt.I woke up to almost 3 feet of snow. My bronco got snowed in even the winch and 4 tire chains couldnt get me out., had to hike straight down to the 410 freeway (think it was the 410) finally got it out 3 weeks later before I moved down south. I left everything up there except my .308 and dog. long, buddies of mine and I had to dig everything out didnt find my Seiko watch till year later when I went back to see my mom and Dad. f'n had hike down the cliff to the highway. luckly I got a ride just before the entrance to green water. was a long freaking hike once I got on the freeway just to find someone to give me a lift.

    Antelope permits down.

Game and fish been doing the helo hunting since I moved here in the early 80's on yotes if I remember right. nothing wrong with it. I think its great. shooting from a copter is pretty hard even on yotes and you have to have a dang good pilot. I wont complain about spending the money on it. I believe one of the biggest problems with night hunting for yotes is units are too crowded with housing and that causes a problem due to stupid people with guns out in the dark looking for coyotes and not paying attention to there surroundings. we see it all the time during the day. turn the lights off in a area that holds lopes which is inundated with houses and you could have some problems. so I can see there skepticism on opening all units. even with shotgun only it buckshot travels pretty far the main problem with coyote population and hunting them is for 99% of the hunters they are called a target of opportunity. meaning someone is hunting something else coyote comes into range its dead. There are very few people that go out to kill yotes just to kill yotes. toss in the night hunts and there are less cause most of the hardcore yote hunters dont want to drive 2-5 hours to a unit that is open for night hunting. cant blame G&F for predator problems its nobodies fault. its open year round. some units have it open at night . a few good things G&F did to enhance yote hunting is allow supressors and no mag limits. next they need to allow Nigh vision scopes, being thermal or inferred or what ever. Reason I say this more people would go out and shoot them, just for an excuse to use bad butt optics. putting a bounty on yotes might be a good thing as it would get the guys that want to make a few bucks out hunting yote's. however it would need to be 50+ for the simple fact that greed out ways just hunting and for 5-25 bucks people that normally dont hunt yotes wont be convinced to hunt yotes for anything less than 50 bucks. They want to get paid for there time other wise they have no interest in it. the other problem is public perception. some dip shoot and the "if you shoot it you have to eat it hunters" will complain because people are being paid to kill yotes and leave them there and killing them just to kill them. it would be a good thing for people who actually go out and hunt yotes for the sole purpose to kill them. , there are only a few hunters that hunt yotes like they hunt deer or elk. then when they do come online to post pics ON a hunter forum no less dipshsits come on and complain because it makes hunters look bad killing something you wont eat, leaving it lay or heavens for bid you show some blood. then you have yote tourneys and yet HUNTERS complain about them like little school girls.. its a no win situation for G&F and Varmit hunters get shoot because there killing them and then get shoot because they cut permit numbers. BTW tomorrow is the start of a new year, I hear its the year of the dog, wack them and stack them. im taking out 2 teenagers tomorrow for yotes. this time there using shotguns and rifles no bows. I might even bring my shotgun to show them how its done. they want to hit as many stands as possible before it gets dark. start at north phoenix end up usually in unit 8 or 9 and hunt all the way up. never leave the freeway or paved road more than a 1/2 mile.

    Calling in lions.

very good idea. not just lions but foxs and bobcats. dad and I were up in arivipa canyon hunting with a buddy of his one year. we pulled up 2 days before the hunt it was getting dark so i figured I would do some calling. walked over to a small bluff facing camp and my father and his buddy drinking beer. started on the call. I had my back against a rocky cliff head was barely sticking over the top. about 20 mins into it I noticed dad and his buddy were pointing and waving at me I never saw a thing. they grabbed rifle and was getting ready to shoot. I happen to catch out of the corner of my eye a big fur ball turned around and there was a bobcat laying there looking at my head. it ran off when I turned again to get a shot. when I got back to camp they said the thing came running up about 10 mins into calling. walking back and forth looking at me. then layed down thats when they grabbed rifle to scare it off. he said funny as shoot when it 1st happened but when it layed down they got scared cause they thought it was going to attack me. I was at the next canyon about 400-500 yards away from them. dont lean against rocks with your head exposed, same deal with calling and owls hawks and eagles wear a hat and make sure your head isnt the only thing sticking out. Talons leave marks.

    Calling in lions.

its up to you how long, eventually something will show up lion bobcat foxes yotes. I usually run a electronic call for 5 on then 10 off if I have patience that day I will do it for a few hours. hand call a min or 2 then off for 5 and a min or 2 etc etc, just gotta play with it. Deer will come to a call especially a high pitched call. Called many elk and deer in using a squealer only a hand full using a low pitch call. Always carry a call while bow hunting deer for the simple fact you never know what your going to see and it does work. Mostly you get does and small bucks butt occasionally you will get a loaner buck thats decent. one thing for sure if you see no deer moving around blow the call a few times, they will start moving. Never had one run away I think its a curiosity thing with deer

but the thing is whats tasteful and whats not? I remember a guy on the old azod board he got drawn for buff and shot one, posted a pic of him sitting on the back of it with his cowboy hat. was a pretty cool pic and you could see how big the buff was plus he was extremely happy about his buff. two do gooder hunters destroyed this guy on the forum the owner took the pic down because it was offensive to some. I mean seriously???? what about a coyote thread, where everyone posts a yote they kill. Same could be for a yearly deer hunting thread then you have the kill VS Harvested debate cause that's offensive to some where does one draw the line on whats ok to post and whats not. according to flatlander from how I read the post( I maybe wrong). the guy who posted some pic in NM a while back with 4 coues deer heads on a cooler is wrong, or a group of elk hunters with there elk hanging from a pole skinned. Camp pics are cool to see.. hunters just cant win and never will especially with fagbook and twatter and the politically correct hunters. the complainers are the minoirty however the minority gets there voices heard if it doesnt then they get a news sites to print it and start posting on social media because thats just the way it is now in the media. Instead of pandering to the complainers just tell them to GFY or FO its worked for me for the last 50+ years on a side note the only one I know it didnt work for was my wife. who told a bunch of anti hunting queers that, up in kaibab when they were yelling at her sitting in the truck reading a book, they drove down the road and shot at me( they were probably trying to scare the deer away and didnt see me.) the deer and I were over 1000 yards away form the truck.

    1. Ok if you say so cupcake 2. Never said a word about grotesque pics. distasteful is in the eye of the person looking at the pic people will find anything distasteful or offensive. people will always find an excuse to cry about something they dont like. Most people dont post pics like that. in the case of varmits like P-dogs well red mist just cant be helped, as far as yotes shot in the head good shooting still dont see many pics posted like that. but then again if I do I dont worry about nor tell someone to clean it up. me myself I wouldnt post it, but then again it depends what forum I am on and what were discussing in that topic. but thanks to the search engines all the pics posted everywhere are easily found. so basically what your saying is that hunters should back down, hide and be Politically correct in everything they do. dont post pictures of your kills unless they been photo shopped, or properly groomed and cleaned so its looks alive, dont pose for a picture of your Animal with a firearm / Bow or knife not to mention a tag on it, otherwise someone will think you killed it and criticize you. this way when people start crying about these pics, then you could say no I didnt kill it, it was laying down and I asked permission to take a selfe with it. I know your aware its a hunting site , your going to find stuff like this. why well because its a hunting sight. Fishermen are just as bad, someone holds a fish wrong(ie not to there likeling) and all heck breaks loose, show pictures of the fish you are taking home in a blue cooler and you'd think the end of the world is happening. too many people get into everyone's shoot anymore about everything especially hunters and fishermen. oh yeah explain the GENERAL public,, the general hunting public the general anti hunting public or the general I find everything offensive public

    Anybody lose this today?

Oh wow. just noticed you can blow up pic too... it could have been a guy with a pistol during archery season too. sucks that it wasnt tagged. but maybe they intend to just didnt make it back from walmart with the tag yet thing has some big butt paws. was it a small one? hard to tell by pics

Then youd better shut down the hundreds of hunting websites for picture posting . we can start with yote's fox's lions and bobcats. as they are on the hit list right now, then after that we can start with no more pics of deer elk lopes bighorns etc etc. as long as its on the internet someone will get there panties in a wad. The facts are really simple has nothing to do with biology and everything to do with cry babies(city people mainly) not liking hunting or predator control. it just takes one cry baby in the media to post something they dont like, then a ton of people who never even thought about it will all of a sudden not like it. Fagbook and twatter have done wonders for this country.

    Lion unit?

I dotn know where you will be in Az, but heres a few locations for some cats. lake pleasant area(hunt north west side) buddies still see them when fishing. we know of 4 different ones. and thats not the pet ones on the Dam or by the north marina if you hunt the park you have to be on the yavapi county side (north side) and its shotgun ONLY in the Park. The yavapi county side is from the eat ide of the Dam almost a start line to castle creek in the middle. Bartlett lake east side all over. Canyon lake but good luck finding a place to hunt them they are there. Apache lake west side. Alamo lake there one still roaming the south side of the dam. he has a den on the north side in those cliffs somewhere. the bobcat has a den somewhere on the south side then of Course you have the whole north rim 12 a and b 13 a and b I like the slope on the north side of the platue going towards ferdonia on the main highway its easy access when there is snow. or just take the dirt road around it That go off the major highway before you climb the hill to Jacob lake Theres a major dirt road that goes to ferdonia. all those foot hills are good and most of the time your out of the snow. Mt trumble is a fantastic spot in 13a the north side to the base one other spot is around wikiup its decent lots of bobcats. upper trout creek and lower trout creek roads as well. I have no idea on spots south of phx as the places we use to hunt varmits in 31 32 33 have access issues. lots of fun but I am to impatient to wait, usally get caught up in yotes and fox's. lions for me are more of a target of opportunity due to my Patience . night calling is a ton of fun and like lance says scares the crap out of you. owls come in at night and those are the worse for the scare factor. before they allowed night hunting we wen night calling alot no shooting just calling. kit foxs come right up to you. they just appear. dont know what units are open to lion this year as I havent looked only thing I do know is that they stopped the night hunts.

    FAST .224's for Coues

what about a .223 WSSM? I have one I havent shot yet got a bunch of 60 and 70s loaded for it. Ive killed a few coues and muleys out to 350 400 with my 22-250 and my .220 swift. i tried those Barnes bronze bullets I believe they were 70-75 grains way back in the 80s only problem I had with them is on hot loads they fouled up the barrel really bad. 5 shots and you had to clean the barrel with a wire bush and sweets. they were pretty good on accuracy. one problem with 22 cal bullets is there are very few mad for hunting, The ballistic tips are ok but make a mess and alot off wasted meat. the partitions are great 60 grain, I have some silver tips in the WSSM I want to try. as far as the wind if your under 400 yards wind wont effect the bullet as must if your going fast with a light bullet 55-60 however if you go slower like shooting 70+ the wind effects the bullet alot more, at least in my experiance with the 22-250 and 220 swift. a buddy has a 22 cheeta and kills over 2 dozen deer a year back east all does that thig drops them like a rock at 600 plus yards. its a throat burner on Barrels if you run hot loads
