In washington we used to carry a raw potato for radiator leaks when we were out 4 wheeling. and yes it works. the heat swells potato after you mash it in the radiator

Not all blanks are crimped on the end, I have a few like this here somewhere they are on a belt have no idea where I got them. also did a quick search and they showed both crimped ones and non crimped ones. Non crimped ones look to be used on a m60. edit: I'll ask my daughter when she gets home sat. what they are she shot hundreds of blanks and live rounds through the m240 last month which is the new 7.62 machine gun. she might know as that M240 is her favorite weapon

These are the parts Its best to carry a spare at the house also. but try to buy remington parts only not after market. https://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/receiver-action-parts/gas-system-components/o-rings/gas-ring-barrel-seal-kit-prod42987.aspx over time they will get dinged up and just wear out. My 20 gauge I think I replaced maybe 1 time since the late 60's the oring I replaced about 1/2 a dozen times. my 12's and my Fathers 12's the rings had to be replaced at least 3-4 times. the newer one like around 70-72 was the one that usually had problems. The 20 gauge probably has close to 75k- 100k rounds through it all skeet loads using 700x powder,(thats all we could get on base in Japan) the 12s had about a 1/4 of that. both hunting and target loads. one thing dad taught me early on about those gas rings on the 1100's is if there sharp enough to cut your hand there good, if there dull the worn out. shooting 700x is a dirty powder and really caked the rings up to wear you had to soak them to get them off, if you didnt you would cut your hand, hence what My father told me way back when. One thing be careful of if you pop the feed latch out make sure you put it in carefully. as its staked in. and if you ruin the stake it will never hold in and pop out(the stake is bascially a mushrooms pc of the receiver that was "Staked" with a punch and hammer to hold the latch in. I like to pop them out with small long screw driver at an angle so it doesn't damage the "staked" part. dont take it out if you dont have too. it rarely goes bad however it does get dirty behind it so carb cleaner works well just dont get it on the wood. the other thing is the gas rings NEVER oil them always install the dry. thats what we were told many moons ago. plus oil catch's powder residue also don't oil up the tube that the gas rings ride on and check the barrel ports for dirt as well. the only other thing you may have problems with is the link behind the bolt. doubtful but they have broke and if you have a bad fit the bolt will wear it out making it jagged. BTW they are sharp and will slice your fingers if your not careful. the link (looks like a wishbone behind the bolt) and the feed latch are made of spring steel there made to bend, just dont over do it. and remeber there sharp 1100 are super easy to take apart and clean. should be a ton of you tube vids on them. forgot to add when you tighten the big nut on the forearm screw it down then back it off one click. you can feel the detent. if you cant feel it click click click, get a new detent or clean it. those nuts are NOT ment to be tightened down tight.

Actually My main competition/favorite gun is a Remington 1100 in 20 gauge SKEET. I just looked up the savage 555 its a alum receiver they look nice probably shoot great but its Aluminum lets see how that last in 10-20 years from now. best bang for the buck is what ever he wants to spend his money on, a bunch of people gave him a list of options.

Dont know if it was a 555 or another O/U stevens( it was an older like 60's model. I dont like the action it felt choppy. have a older stevens S X S that I reworked the action and its pretty smooth. as far as what I mean buy junk is the clunk in the break open action and the machine finish on the parts. I can give 2 shits about how they shoot its a shotgun As far as shot guns I been shooting them since I was 8 both compatition and hunting and have about 2 dozen O/Us from mirokus 101s citoris berratta etc etc. as far as shot, a ton of them out there including but not limited to purdys, lc smiths remington trap guns etc etc. all my O/U's are 60's to early 70's only newer one I have is a berretta.

Shot 3 with my kids -FIRST DOUBLE - Video
Delw replied to Bryson Bendall's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Bryson That is beyond cool, Man I miss those days. Started mine yote hunting when they were still in car seats. give those kids a call and them them try. you might think it doesnt sound right but dont worry yotes will come in. My oldest daughter called in a fox when she was still in a car seat then a bobcat when she was about 5 or 6. This post made my month! -
One of the best shotguns ever made (Mirukos sp) I have a few. Cabelas usually has one or 2 in there gun library. (keep an eye on the fixed choke size they are its stamped on the barrel) They also have 3" models as well as trap, skeet, mod improved full etc etc Stogers are junk, stevens ie the older ones are bottom line acceptable. a decent O/U shotgun is going to run about 700-1200 used like ruger red labels citoris etc etc. Ive seen the older mirukos around 550-750 range at cabelas. the newer charles daily brand is absolute garbage. make sure you looking at MIRUKOS when someone says charles dailey

Theres a guy that lives part time at Ben avery during the winter he does fantastic work. has a trailer set up. other than that call ben avery and ask if they know anyone. 870s are pretty simple to clean and tune up. 1100 are simple also, usually just need the gase rings and o-rings on the top under the fore end. what is the 1100 doing or not doing?

Doomride I think Some of you guys are messed up in a bizarr kinda way

I was looking for one of these that was un molested ( ie no brake) I'll keep this in mind. Awsum rifle looks real good to
-
I didnt see that part. as far as materials they use all types for blades, depending on the application. mostly Nickle cobalt castings on the airplane stuff. I have no idea on the missle stuff or drone stuff. If I recall it was haynes mars hastoloy X one of them was called ball bustruim are what we used for garrett well they supplied the castings we just cut them and ground them. Dont know if its true but the boss told us one casting was around 5k cant remember if that was finished or not. was back in early 90s late 80's. The castings were pretty dang cool finish was incrediable and the size was unbelievable . After we got done to them they just hand finished them and balanced.

The golden algea kill happened about 10+ years ago. only heard of one fish kill since. however fishing has been good an bad its pretty wierd. I havent heard of any smallies coming off that lake since the 1st kill. Matter of fact when I was help with the gill net survey there was absolutely NO smallies taken. and in electro fishing a few year classes were non existent. fishing was always good for smallies in nov-jan no matter how cold or hot it was since the 80s. after the fish kill in 2000 something you were lucky to see one. I put t the results on the old azbasszone website Years ago if its still up and running. and a few survey results after that.
