I have a youth model Savage Axis 7mm-08 that I pieced together for my triplet daughters. It has a 20" Barrel, VIAS Brake, action is a Remington Bolt Action, Vortex Viper 6.5x20x50 - Mil Dot #VPR-M-06ZMD scope, The trigger was Honed and Stoned with lighter springs installed by Coyote Gun works from AGI Guns, and a Harris Bipod 6" to 9". You would probably want to change the stock as it is now muddy girl camouflage. Your boy would probably not appreciate all the pink and purple.

I pieced together a Savage Axis 7mm-08 for my ten year old daughters last year. Threw a middle class Vortex scope, brake, and bi-pod on it and it has put down some animals. We had a really lucky and successful 2016. In all seriousness you really cant go wrong with a 7mm-08 but make sure the little ones use a least some type of hearing protection, if not double protection.. One shot from any rifle with a brake on them and it could scare them out of ever shooting any gun again!!!

Has any one field tested or own these optics? Are they worth trading a Vortex Razor HD Spotter 27x60x85, the new model, straight across?

For the money, what is the best Range Finder on the market out to 1000+ yards?

What kind of spotter are you packing?

Would you consider a trade for a new Vortex Razor 27x60x85. I have only had it for a month and they have only been on the market for a couple of months.

There are not a lot of roads to hunt by the lake. There are a lot of trails though. With that said the late Nov early Dec hunt is a very good hunt. Usually, the pre rut is getting started and some of the big boys are out.

Need a little Help!!! How do you figure out the best place to set a trail camera on a water hole? I have a handful of cameras out on a handful of water holes. Some cameras are placed perfectly to catch a lot of game that come in and other cameras don't even take a picture even though there is a lot of fresh sign at them. With that said a few of the water holes are rather large since the last the rain. They actually tripled in size and I had to re set the cameras about 30-40 yards back. I know there are some decent animals in the immediate vicinity as we have seen them in our optics. On a large water hole, what factors need to be considered when placing the camera in order to maximize seeing what is coming in to water? I have attached a few pics.

There are a lot of cats in that unit! I have a handful on trail camera photos. Although I have been hunting 24b for 15 years the only lion I ever seen in my optics was while I was sitting at camp. My father in law actually glassed the cat up.....thought it was a deer.

I have been told those with a jet black tail are hybrids. I don't know if that is true or not.
