24A Hunt updated day two!!!
Hightracker replied to jaycee85501's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Hey Jaycee, listen to Onlycoues4me, he is giving you some good tips as to how to find those bucks. 24A has alot of great bucks. I know because I grew up in that part of the country and I still hunt there. As was said, be patient and persistent. Good luck Hightracker -
Watch the rim! Some good bulls like to come off the top to feed. It's a little steep, but like TJ said, you'll be away from all the road hunters. Good luck! Hightracker

The bucks are there, they are just sitting tight. Plenty of glassing. I have a couple of brusiers located. Hopefully we can get on them. Good luck!

I haven't hunted the Camp Wood area for some time. I used to hunt around Sheridan mountain to the Southwest. Found plenty of deer.

I also agree 100%. The outdoors were made to be seen from the sole of our boots and not the tread of a tire. Keep the tire tread on the legal roads, so that we who enjoy hiking can greatly appreciate God's creation. -
I found the same situation some years back in 20A near Cleator. I was actually bowhunting for deer and found a doe with her legs tangled just like the one you found. It's not a pretty sight to see an animal suffer that way.

You have ask an honest question. This is part of scouting. If other hunters are willing to share information on where they have seen coues deer in unit 6A, that is great. This will help you in your scouting efforts. I'm sure you know all about coues deer, like many of us do. Have a great hunt and send us some pictures.

Pope & Young top 5 typical & atypical
Hightracker replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
A little too much egg nog already. The only thing you have hanging on your walls is Pope and Young spider! Try gutting that out. -
Story! Story! Story! Unit! Unit! Unit! More pics!

Awsome buck! Way to go! Let's just hope this deer had spread it's gene's last year! What unit did you hunt?

I just finished hunting unit 24A, and came across a couple of hunters that had a seen a herd of 10 coues deer (4 bucks and the rest does). They said that the biggest buck in the group was trying to run off the next biggest buck. It looked to them that they were starting to rut. I do not know when the rut starts and ends, but if they are rutting come mid December I will be there to fill my archery tag, since I didn't fill my rifle tag.

First of all, praise God that you made it out alright! That is a great buck! I would score him around 95. Congradulations Josh!

You're sure right coues 4x4. Mike is good at what he does. I've taken a trophy bull elk and a trophy antelope to him. Every time I stare at my mounts, I start reaching for my bow, because I thought they were still alive.

Awsome buck! I'll be looking for something similar when I hunt this November. In the last picture, I see some more antlers hanging on the wall. Any of them worth mentioning? -
