Thanks dude!

Don't post much. Mostly read. Finished my AZ hunters Ed after flying in from WA state. Decided to try my hand at Archery Mule deer. Mistake 1) thinking I could glass well. Mistake 2) thinking I was sneaky. Learning alot. Mostly hunting 33 and 37B. I am finding does. But only one buck here one buck there. Very minimal buck sightings. Is this typical for this area, or this hunt in general? I have been fortunate to find one buck a day but am hoping for more opportunities. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Enjoying my time in AZ, even though I hate the sun 😆

Ugh,. If I would have seen this when I was in AZ I would have likely bought it. bummer. Looking for a small commuter with 4x4.

His buck was a small 3 point (barely a three point). Truthfully just walked into that buck in unit 22. It was one of two deer we saw that day in 22. We were working some deep cuts (broken terrain) and it just stood up out of its bed at 70ish yards. Bam. Dead deer. Cut it up, and hiked the 1.5 miles out.

Well, a member on this forum joined me on the 11th. Put on a glassing clinic, and oh man the bucks were moving. Multiple stalks on bigger class bucks (nothing giant, but nice mature bucks). The best day to that point. Really had a great time meeting another member. Then the 12th happened. Bucks everywhere! I literally ran myself into the ground, 9 bucks spotted between 7am and 12:30pm. Ended my last stalk on the way to the truck! It was unreal. I have never sprinted across the desert like that. All day, wind sprints. I need diaper cream bad! Even though I did not fill my tag, my buddy filled his and I have some great insight on how to prepare for the next round. This was the funnest hunt I have ever been on. I have never stalked like that before, and to get so close so many times. I did let an arrow fly on the 12th, but I was holding low and it went just over the bucks back, I thought I hit him for a brief second. No hair on the broadhead but it was super close (my pin was 80 but he was 74 so I held low). Appreciate all the responses, feedback, etc. Really gem of a hunt. Now I need to buy some 12x50's!

Yesterday was the slowest I've had. Only a couple does in the AM then nothing. A couple bucks today, but not stalk opportunities. Still seeing does. Hope there is some evening activity!

What else would a guy do? As soon as I figured out I could deer hunt in Jan. I bought a plane ticket and apologized to my wife.

I don't know what a gambel is. Thanks. You couldn't get any opposite from where I live and hunt. Hoping this weather gets more bucks active. So close today. 70 yard full draw but the doe wouldn't lead him to my lanes. Then 82 yards but he would not stop.

Well, the morning was hot but the rest of the day and evening was quite. Looks like it might rain. Maybe the deer will be less active tonight in the rain and be more active in the morning!! If tomorrow afternoon is slow I will check out 37b a little bit. Got cholla'd today.

Just a couple bucks. Chased one around for or couple hours. Couple close calls then he slipped. Mid day seems really slow.

Well, the rut activity is full swing!

Don't be to jealous. I'm more of a Buffon in the desert. I hail from the rainforest, even have miss on my back to prove it. So I am completely out of my element.

Anyone know if this cooler weather typically increases rut activity? I'm hoping all the does I was seeing start getting hot and lure in more bucks. I fly back to WA Sunday so I'm hoping I can get it done I a few days!

On the road to 33 now . I know, some of you told me so.
-
I'm looking for a stupid one for sure. Only turned up a couple does in 22 so far. If I don't glass up anything else this evening I guess it's back to the shadeless, hot, pressure of 33! 😁
-
I might head back. But it's nice to see the country and get more Intel for the next time. Haven't seen another Hunter all morning up here which is nice. But only 3 does in a big area.
-
Well I ran up to 22. If anything, nice to see more of AZ. The terrain here (more relief) is more what I am used to. No pressure. Looks like there was some serious flooding. Just continue to burn my eyes glassing.
-
Do you guys think the pressure (people) in 33/37 is less than what I might find I 22?
-
I edited my post. Apologize for that information. I have seen a handful of people everyday. But they seem to show up late after 8am, and most seem to cruise a few roads.
-
Thanks TJ. I would fall over for 3-5 bucks. First legal buck I get an opportunity to harvest I plan to take it. Maybe I'll stay put instead of heading north. Appreciate the reply.
-
They are rutting in 33. Though it isn't super crazy, or else the buck density is extremely low in this area. But I have seen a few bucks digging does and oblivious to everything else.

Laser Tech. is the company that produces the G7 range finder ballistic solver. I have a Brand new Laser Technology 360 R Laser Technology - TruPulse Laser Rangefinder I don't need two! This is brand new, I can't find the box at the moment but might be able to scare it up. Compare the specs of this range finder to the G7 BR2. Nearly identical minus the ballistic solver on the BR2. I use a ballistic app on my smart phone and have not wished for the onboard solver on my range finder. Looking for $1400.00. Open to trades for rifles, scopes, actions, barreled actions, etc. Thanks!
