Mine won't get hit. I transferred all the money out and don't have over draft protection. See I can't go hunting this year in AZ. I will be moving to CO. Can't wait to go hunting up there though ๐ -
Yeah they are set up. They look a little bored. lol Seems like a slow season for the area for them. If I get one I am planning on packing in ice and bringing it down to the valley. Going to take it to Von Hanson's close the the house.

I was up in 5BS until the past weekend. I had to come back to work. Talked the boss into letting me go out again tomorrow and Thursday. I will be out there trying to get my first ever animal. I did see a number of cows and handful of bulls. I am hoping they keep the same pattern. I got close the last day I was out there. Good luck to those still trying to bag one on the final days. ๐

I was getting bummed out because we didn't see a charge. Apparently there were some issues getting onto Cap one site. So all day I kept saying well at least I got a new bow coming in. Fast forward to late in the day and my buddy sends me a text that we are going hunting. Awesome so now I get a bow and I am going hunting. The downside is the delivery of my bow is delayed. I will take that over not getting drawn. Not sure what area but it's either 5BS or 6A excited either way. Congrats on others that got drawn and sorry for those that did not.

We might have a decent chance in 6A TopRut says 4-7 points for that area. Probably no chance for 5BS they say 8-11. Good luck everyone.
-
Dang that's a bummer. Yeah he's a good dude. Hopefully we get it and I don't drag him down.

We put in for 5BS and 6A and have 6 points. When you put in with two people on the card does it use the highest points from either person? I have 2 and my friend has 6.

Lifted 2007 Rhino 660. It was bored out to a 686. Runs really well. It includes brand new seats front and rear. The rear has a 4 point harness. I have a brand new in the box 4 point harness for the front two seats. It has a speaker unit, amp and full rear rollcage It is a 10 year old UTV but still going strong. It does have 7211 miles and 777 hours. I am not exactly sure when the engine work was done. It was done by the previous owner in a shop I took it up to 5B south about a dozen times and it did great in the higher altitude and the mud. No trades please. Asking $4,300 give me a call four 8 zero three 1 three seven 0 4 three I am in Gilbert, AZ Jonathan

Thanks for the tip. That does help because I found some other areas that are kind of what you are describing. There was a small grassy area wouldn't call it a meadow with these little yellow flowers all over it and quite a bit of droppings in that grassy area. At the east side base of the mountain were some pretty good sized pines right next to the grassy area. It seems they eat different things based on the location of the hunting unit. Do they eat the yellow flowers? They kind of look like a dandelion small and lower to the ground. I have a number of areas marked on the map. I plan to go out one more time before the hunt starts on the 28th to dial in the area I want to hunt. I know from elk hunting that you have to get out there and scout. I am assuming it is the same for turkeys couldn't imagine why it wouldn't be. I hunted this area as recently as last fall. So I am pretty familiar with the area already. BTW for anyone who might have a tag here there is some growth sprouting up from the burns last summer on Turkey Mountain. In the fall it was completely burnt with very little ground vegetation. Also sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread.

I was out in 5BS last weekend and did not hear or see any turkeys. This is my first time hunting turkey. I have only ever hunted elk. It is a lot different and I am learning so much. I did find high trees open up to a meadow and then up to a decent size plateau with all kinds of droppings and tracks. I am hoping that it is a good spot. I was told that is the type of landscape turkeys prefer.

Hit the card this morning. Got drawn for my first ever turkey hunt. Not sure what area yet but I put in for 5B and 27 as 1 and 2. This is going to be awesome.

I am going to start off by saying this may get a little long. I have not hunted in over 17 years just before my dad passed and not archery since I was 14. It was too difficult for me at the time to hunt without my dad. I was 17 years old and my dad did everything. I did not know the first thing about archery hunting. So I began with earlier this year by tagging along with a buddy for his archery turkey hunt. I forgot how fun hunting is and challenging. This started to peak my interest in hunting again. So I put in for 5BS archery bull this year and got drawn. I started off by coming to this site to learn as much as I could. I scouted the area as much as I could as well. I wanted to shoot one with my dad's old bow but after 100 or so shots it broke and I could not find replacement parts. So I had to get another bow. I learned so much from TimberMesa Outdoors and practiced 3 to 5 times a week up until the week of the hunt. On to the hunt. I started out at Pine Mtn. I could not really find any I saw one cow over 400 yards away. So I changed course and went east towards the Bawcom Tank area. I finally started to hear bugles and saw an elk every day of the hunt. I went from opening day until yesterday. I might still go out on the last day of the hunt if I can swing it. The most memorable moment so far was on Tuesday I saw some elk quite a ways out there. I stopped sitting on my spot and started following them with the hopes of getting closer. The wind was blowing the right direction and was pretty strong. I was able to track them for over 1.5 miles. I got up on them in real thick trees. Just when I thought I would lose them I either smelled them or they sounded off. An opportunity arose when a bull came through the trees and stood 18 yards from me. I had to bend down due to shot lane and took the shot. I am not 100% sure I hit him. I had so much adrenaline and emotions that my shot could have very well been off. I tracked the area for over 3 hours scouring the mountainside looking for signs. Then again another day just to make sure I searched every spot. I could not find any signs or my arrow. Even though I have not harvested an elk yet I am happy to know that I have seen elk every day I think of this as a successful hunt. Also having the ability to track them undetected for over 1.5 miles is pretty cool. I want to thank this community for all of the information on the site. Especially AZKenDog3 and Duarte64 for all of your help during the hunt. One of the best things that came from this hunt is my wife is interested in hunting. She is already looking at bows and the spring turkey hunt. This would be a great thing to teach her and our kids even though they are only 4. Thanks, Jonathan P.S if anyone has information where they are hearing bugles in 5BS and want to pass it along that would be greatly appreciated. Since Bawcom seems to have died down.

This hunt ended up being a huge success without tagging out. My wife had a great time. She really enjoyed seeing the elk and tracking them. The wind changed on us at about 60 yards away and the elk ran off. I thought she would be bummed out but she was amazed how magnificent these creatures are and had an immediate respect for them. On the drive home she kept talking about how beautiful they are and asked a lot of questions about hunting them. She also really enjoyed just being outdoors with no electronic devices. It has taken me a long time to show her how awesome the outdoors can be. The best alternative ending to this hunt happened she wants to get on the card next year. She wants to try archery first. Now that surprised me I thought she would want to try rifle first. I tried to attach a picture but get a message that says "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." I added it as my avatar

Oh man that's a bummer. I was hoping he would get one. Hopefully he had a great time being out there and seeing the elk. The close calls are exciting too.
-
Sent you the information that I know. Good luck.
-
Congrats that's awesome
-
That would be good too. lol

Well I am able to take the last day of the hunt off. The wife is going to come with this time. Hopefully we can get on them and tag out.
-
That's awesome. Thanks for the update. Now I just need to find them.

Has anyone heard any bugling in 5BS? There hasn't been any around Pine Mountain. Some signs but no chatter. Turkey Mountain is completely burnt so I haven't been there since July.

Wow that's a nice bow. Got 2 of the raffle tickets. It doesn't show how many are left. Does anyone know the latest count? -
I will also be doing solo for a portion of my hunt. Basically after the morning hunt of 9/11 unless of course if I get one early I got a cart and plan to take as much meat as I can. My family knows where I will be and I plan on checking in daily. If they don't get the call they know to send someone. I am also looking into getting spot from one of my wheeling buddies. That way I can send SOS signal if I need it and the family can check my location.
