Thread size question
Tropicalmulch replied to no worries's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
So yes your barrel can be threaded to a 5/8-24 . And kind of what I'm getting at is if a brake manufacturer makes a brake for a .284 bullet diameter, the internal thread That is machined into that brake should be safe to put on any rife shooting a .284 diameter bullet. So if you find a brake that's designed for a .284 diameter bullet and the internal thread is 5/8-24 that will work but the outside diameter of the brake will be larger then your barrel and will need to be blended in order to look correct. If a manufacturer makes the same brake with a 9/16-20 thread (for example) then the outside diameter of that brake may be closer or the same diameter of your barrel. (Providing a different look) I don't know if a brake designed for a .284 that has a 9/16 thread exists or not. But I would think you be ok to even go down to a 1/2-32 thread in a .750 diameter brake -

I'm not quite sure what to think about that. Who's gonna try it? I'm entertaining the idea but I'm afraid I'll like it! Coyote the new coues deer!lol -
Cool sounds like he's got his priorities in order!

I'm unfamiliar with those units as well but stick with it. Those pigs are out there somewhere. My son is still trying to fill his tag too. Best of luck to you though hope you guys see some action
-
Im curious about this too. Almost tried it this year

I think it does matter because basically if and I stress "if" (because I don't know all the details) arizona gives up our wildlife for the cost of the "round up" that's not a fair deal in my eyes. I get the pay it forward mentality (I don't know the details of the acquisition of the Yellowstone elk. And if we got them for the cost of a round up, by all means I agree its time for us to return the favor) but I think this is different then say...a guy that wants to go hunt and I say you get a license and tag I'll loan you a gun and take you out. Arizona traded turkeys for new Mexico antelope. I'm all in favor of that. The way I see it that's a fair deal and I've never hunted turkey in my life.as far as bragging rights, I could care less about them. Arizona has quality elk and I'd like to go hunt those elk every year, but our herds and our habitat doesn't support that demand (for everyone who wants to hunt elk every year to do so). Our elk are valuable and while I don't think the numbers that got transplanted are going to be devastating to our elk herd I hope we got some conservation $ out of it that's all I'm saying.

I think trading and selling our wildlife is all we'll and good as long as "we" (our herds and residents of Arizona) benefit from the trade or sale as well as the purchaser. In the article posted by tropyhseeker it states that west Virginia agencies covered the costs of the capture. Admittedly I scanned through the article, but my question would be what else did arizona get from the transaction? Something I hope

That's an awesome day for sure. Great job. I'll bet Josh is thinking real hard about picking up a lion tag!

Wow great job. Nice shooting and a very cool video

My question is what is the rectangular thing in the back of that kids brain

Who is taking the kids out to chase pigs this weekend?
Tropicalmulch replied to rossislider's topic in Youth Hunters
The boy passed on a 25 to 30 pounder (my on the hoof guess) at 30 yards. Pretty impressive for a young Hunter if you ask me. At his age I woulda shot. The funny part is an hour later he asked do you think we can find that pig again? -
Very cool congratulations.

Today i heard that song another brick in the wall that goes "hey! Teacher! Leave them kids alone!" Busted up laughing

I've been sick this week but on the downhill side of things (I hope) but plan on hunting with the boy on Friday and Saturday 37a. If he tags one this will be his 3rd. We're looking forward to it. -
Dirty taco I lake the way you think. Maybe coooze deer can get the same reputation. Those things are nasty I dunno why anyone would want to eat one!

Davey Crockett would probably crawl in there and grin him down. Try that! I had a similar situation a couple years ago but I was able to arrow him from outside the cave. Good luck I'm interested to hear about the outcome of this one.

No need to change laws ....we have enough of them as it is. That's my opinion on what your real question is. However do I think game and fish can or should excercise leniency on a self reporter? Depending on the circumstances, yes I think they should. In your circumstance I think they should based on the fact that you self reported. But it sounds to me like you took that opportunity away from them by volunteering for the option you went with....maybe I'm misunderstanding how all that worked out...but seems to me game and fish cited a violation and because of possible outcomes you chose the Avenue you chose(in fear of loosing your hunting license and opportunity to draw a sheep tag) when maybe they woulda just slapped you on the wrist.

Wow I imagine the other pigs called her Fiona haha. I was surprised at how well it worked if you have an air compressor give it a try
-
Seriously? And it's good?
-
How do you cook a tongue? Never tried it but very interested.
-
Wow...that's cool

The most disturbing part to me is who leaves half an elk behind?!

HSUS Preparing to have voter initiaive?
Tropicalmulch replied to bonuspointjohn's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Another point you might add to your list is that if this thing passes and cat hunting is banned, eventually there may be a need to thin the cat population out, who's gonna pay for that? That cost will no longer be paid by the sportsman, it will pass on to the taxpayer.
