If anyone drew 46BE send me a PM as i have spent last two sheep seasons in there and can share some unit knowledge. Greg

Beautiful Cabeza ram........congratulations !
-
If you plan on doing it DIY I will share what worked for me when I hunted sheep next door in 46BE.

Congrats ! I have never hunted this unit but drove the only access road through it on way to 46BE. Very tough hunt with limited access but they have killed BC rams there in years past. You can hunt the Agua Dulce Mtns without the long hikes but if you want to scout the Granite Mtns that is another story. Greg Koons out of Yuma guides there but I'm sure there are others as well. Best of luck hope you get a smoker ram. Greg

Did you draw the one tag......?

Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep 6a/22 vs 27/28 Late Hunts
Dirtbag replied to Heat's topic in Bighorn Sheep Hunting
GreyGhost85 is correct......if you don't have max points then stay away from units that go to max point holders and the 6A/22 Rocky tag is very popular with max point holders.... -
Please post how your unlimited hunt go's. I would be interested in hearing about it. Once again good luck , Greg

Recurveman, That is awesome that you are trying the Montana unlimited units and it sounds like you have realistic expectations. I also have been researching this hunt for last couple of years. Was gonna do it this year but decided to cash in my Colorado deer points on early rifle hunt. I have pretty much decided what unit I will hunt and plan for 2020 season. Wish you best of luck and check out Rokslide website for good info on the unlimited s. Also Duncan Gilchrist wrote couple books on montana sheep hunting. Greg

Steve- You and your sheep team did awesome. Congrats on a great looking ram. Greg

Depending on what unit this is I would have to guess 14.5 - 15 bases with 33 - 34 on length = 166 or so.... but I'm certainly no expert.....good looking ram.

So I was in Az Kiabab this weekend and took this pic. Yes, I can't believe it either. It is obvious what it is but problem is closest herd I know about is at least 120 miles away in Utah. I did find out that they are also at Bearzonia in Williams. So what is it doing in the Kiabab ?
-
I gave them general area but I'm sure they will prod me for specific location. If given the opportunity to kill I believe I would have to decline. I certainly would love to harvest a mtn goat and do apply every year in Utah. However Killing this goat wouldn't feel right to me.

Ha ha have you spoke with game and fish to see if there are any laws about why you could not take it? I reported it to G&F and they said they would contact me for more info.
-
Yes, I took that pic.

I don't care what everyone else is putting in for, just what I am putting in for. When I drew my antelope tag I applied for one choice and drew tag #1. I am open to 22 or 24B, not really thinking there are 180 class sheep in any other units right now. IMO I think there is several units that can produce a 180 ram besides just 22 & 24 units.37A, 28. I think quality of ram is very dependent upon time invested especially for DIY hunters. To often people only hunt couple days then get discouraged with lack of sightings and then kill first decent ram they find. I completely disagree. 22 and 24b are the ONLY units with big rams! I guess that depends on what you call a big ram. For me any ram that scores above B&C minimum is a big ram. Last year unit 28 produced a 186 ram and 37A produced a 183 ram. Both of these rams are well above BC minimum.

There is 66 residents with max points. If it was me I would swing for the fence with my two choices. Might not draw but.....you have better chance than everyone else with one point less. 20% of sheep tags go to max point holders.

Sportsmans Input Sought by ConserveandProtectAZ.org-Unit wide Raffle and Auction Tags
Dirtbag replied to Jay Scott's topic in The Campfire
I emailed ADBSS saying that if they supported this initiative that I do not agree with then I would not be renewing my membership with their organization. I received email stating that my letter was forwarded to ADBSS board member and I would receive a reply back shortly......never heard back from them. Guess they don't care about losing a single member but maybe when more members start dropping them then they will take notice. -
I too carry 3 sets....Zeiss 10's around neck, Zeiss 15's and Zeiss 65mm spotter in backpack. I think ideal setup for me is 12 power EL's with tripod stud and spotter.

Great looking ram but if you're looking for a BC ram....he is not it.....
-
Ryan, Saw your sheep mount at clinic...it looked great!
-
Yes, I will be at clinic again this year......helping my buddy with his tag.
-
2016 was a banner year for B&C rams....I bet 2017 will be as well......if you are looking to draw a sheep tag study the draw info and make two good choices as I drew my second choice.
