I agree. Definitely unsettling to think when you see these guys, there could be riflemen watching over them and probably watching us too! When I think to myself this is my country and I’m not giving up what gives me so much pleasure, it calms me down a bit

I would say excitement if it hadn’t been for happening with both rifles and then verifying later. Last year I ranged for a friend twice and gave him the reading, he dialed and shot. He missed high by 2’ twice. I ranged again, this time steadying on my tripod, this time about 150 yards closer so he dialed the right moa and hit his mark. Before hiking to the buck, I ranged that area again and figured I was hitting a boulder behind the buck up the ridge that was about 150 yards further out. The spotter had the fever that time! I hate that feeling you got right now!

Danged tough hunt with this warm weather! We had to quit after 5 days looking for a couple giants that live in about a 2 square mile area that gets no pressure. Figured we’d have to ride a grid on horseback with brush guns! Dicey! Keep after it if you have the time! Right place right time

Seems like I’m never in cell range to get out but I’ve come across bp agents sitting along a road and given them coords and they don’t seem to be too interested.

Wife and I were glassing from a little knob in 35a and about 10 or so came walking right below 80 yards or so. One of them saw us and they scattered. 2 of them that looked as if to be brothers were behind a big boulder, I gave kind of a friendly wave and the younger one waved back. The older one backhanded the one that waved back in the shoulder! We laughed for days about that!

Short answer is no. They headed back to Scottsdale. If I remember right they were so shook up they didn’t think about it until I mentioned it

A few years ago an acquaintance and his buddy had wt tags in the Whetstones. They hunted the west side somewhere and were home by Saturday. He said Saturday morning they came across several immigrants in the dark in a wash. One of them ( likely the coyote) spoke perfect English to them asking if they were hunting and after a couple minutes of small talk they parted ways. After chewing on it a couple hours they decided to break camp and go home. Burned their tags. Wonder if G&F has taken this into consideration when deciding on tags numbers in these units?

You’re right what I ranted about was not talked about here. Had a conversation with a guy yesterday about some advice about his hunt after Thanksgiving in 36b. Gave him some spots in the 2-6 mile range off the border and he freaked out about being that close. I asked him why he even put in for that unit and he really didn’t have an answer. I hear that all the time, not necessarily from guys on here but in general.

All I’m saying is for the most part the ones coming across the border are good people and it’s not their fault that this country get its shoot together and fortify the border. Remember the 500 drug runners that may cross daily are supplying 500,000 white tweeter pos drug dealers in this country! We obviously don’t want to stop the activity!

Cracks me up the fear I hear in people about the border. Some of the best hunting is within a couple miles of the border because we are afraid to go down there. I’ve actually had more trouble in northern units with theft in camps than in the southern units. It’s possible I’m in the minority. If you’ve ever worked with the Mexican people, most are very grounded, honest, hard working people. They aren’t the criminals, ( drug runners aside but they definitely don’t want to cross your path) our government officials are the criminals! So go out hunt in your country!! And stop letting high fuel prices stop you from scouting more. Cut back on something else and burn the fuel! The climate change dip shits want to see us use less petroleum! I’m done!

I was in 35b a few years back and came across 4 BP agents on horseback about a mile off border. After asking what critters they might have seen, they were pretty tight lipped. The guys rode off and the guy bringing up the rear said the 3 guys ahead were hunters and they had seen a few. I chuckled to myself and thought to myself good for them! One of the perks of a shitty job! Especially now!
