I think if the g&f mailed every hunter in the state a hundred dollar check and a thank you note just for being a hunter, about 90% of the people would bitch because the ink on the check was smudged or something. Those guys cant do anything right.

Nice work! Congrats on a great buck! That deer wouldn't get by many people without having to duck, myself included.

Sweet! Awesome buck, congrats! Definitely worth closing the season early.

Probably 1 of the coolest gifts i have ever received!
mattys281 replied to hoghntr's topic in The Campfire
It was a pain in the butt to get open! They use stud glue or aomething similar. Wife sent one to her stepdad like this but also wrapped with layer after layer of the duct tape, i would have killed her. Thats awesome! He'll stop being mad as soon as he sees what's inside. Maybe.....My paps wasn't at house to see it so he is getting 1 for b-day. The thought behind this is what was awesome! I remember getting $5 useless big 5 sporting good crap from my x for b-days and Christmas, you know the camping toilet paper (biodegradeable), maybe a lighter or $5 headlamp.. it is nice to be married to someone who wants to make ya smile even if ya gotta work for it a little. I know every Christmas will hold a gift i would never expect! My ex probably gave me something good at one point or another, but the only things I can remember are the child support payment, the $12k bill from my lawyer to defend me from that sucubus, the ruined credit and the bankruptcy. I know jesus said to forgive and love your enemies and all that, but im pretty sure hed make an exception in this case. -

Thats awesome! My favorite was.... well.... guess that story should be saved for beers and campfires, but this crate would definitely take second place. -
Sweet buck! Congrats!

Coues deer have a very small home range compared to muleys, I think its probably his home range. He could be drifting if its a low deer density area, but it wouldn't be my first guess. The areas I hunt in the winter I usually see the same bucks I saw an got on trailcam during the summer. In fact theres a couple bucks ive seen several years in a row. This is a middle of the road spot as far as deer density. Enough to hunt, but its not exactly overrun by them.

Happening in Oregon but Issue is Alive and Well Here in S. AZ
mattys281 replied to Jawa512's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I agree that one of the best things about az is the abundance of public land. Still doesnt change the fact that its a horse crap practice to block public access to public land. I lost a good hunting spot this way. Technically I could still walk in, but its about an 8 hour hump vs. The former 2 hour drive. So I go somewhere else and the chit bag guide gets his spot. -

I think its horse crap that any entity can deny the public access to public land. There should be easment access between lots or something. I know of a couple roads that got closed not because of disrespect, but because the land owner was written a check to put the lock up. -

2 Whitetail processed, warning picture heavy

That's a pretty sweet set-up you've got there! My buddy I was hunting with in Nebraska this year broke my deer down for me the night we shot it and I helped as much as I could (although I kinda got the impression my clumsy hands were slowing down him & his wife more than helping). They shoot 3-5 deer per year and don't buy red meat, so they butcher all their own deer. It's pretty amazing how quickly someone knows what they're doing can process a deer. We had mine take from a whole deer that wasn't even gutted yet into steaks, roasts and piles of meat to grind within about 2 hours. -
I have no idea what my daypack weighs. I'd guess under 20. For backpacking hunts I'm usually 38-45# going in, depending on how long the trip is and what the weather is supposed to be like.

I think that's a good way to handle little kids, but at some point when they get older your kids need to be told, "Hey, you want to have fun every minute or do you want to be successful? Because success is usually the combination of a lot of effort and discomfort." I've ruined more than one hunt because I was worried about my kids and even other adults I was with not having fun. So to make sure everyone enjoyed themselve, I made decisions i wouldn't have made hunting on my own. The end result was that we went home empty handed, then I went out by myself and killed deer, and got to return home to the, "I wish we would've got one when I was there" kinda stuff. If I'd been a bigger hard-butt in the field, we may have harvested one together. The way I look at it is, as a parent my job is not to raise kids that smile all the time, my job is to raise a successful adult that's able to take on the world and survive in it. That prime focus has to be kept whether hunting, working in the yard, or sending them off to school for the day.

Heat: I think we all could appreciate your frustration and apprecaite you correcting us on it. However, I don't think it's anyone's responsibility to vet out a new release before posting it, the responsibility falls on those publishing to make sure it's correct. -
Go 7/08 yourself! I tried using that one at work today, but the other guy just looked at me like I was the biggest nonhorse equine that hed ever seen. Frankly, I felt like a fool. I guess some things are only appropriate on cwt.com
