heck IM IN!!! Oh, wait were we talking about the draw length? I'll take 2" please.

Thats a good looking bow. Wish I could sneak that cash under the boss's radar, but she can smell mischief.

When I hunted nebraska last year that was the norm. I did a couple all day sits, but was told it was pointless. Those eastern deer tuck into thick bedding cover and dont move an inch through midday. In az though, I see too many bucks on trail cam between 11:00am and 3pm to risk missing one so i sit through. Can make for some long boring hours though on a slow day, but every now and then you get one of those magic days that you see so many all day that youre afraid to move. The ones ive killed out of a stand in az have both been in the morning 7:30, but I killed one from the ground while sitting an ambush on a trail at 11:00am and then the next year I had a 60yard shot at a nice 8 point from the same spot at around noon-1:00 time frame, but I missed him.

I'll try to sit as still as possible for the first 2-3 hours, but during the middle of the day I'll stand up to stretch every hour or two to try to keep from cramping up. Then about 2-3 hours before sundown its time to play the statue game again. I cant sit that long without moving, so when I do shift position I just make sure i look around and check my six first, then try to move as slow and quiet as possible. During the late season its not so bad, only about 10 hours, but during the august hunt im in it from before dawn til after dark, about a 15 hour stretch. It gets tough, but way easier in a tree than on the ground. My summit is comfy!

I was in the third grade, our class was watching it on tv. I don't think I remember a dang thing from grade school but I remember seeing that.

3 hour stalk! Nice! Thats good work, congrats to him! -
Only one muley on the wall. Hope to change that this august though.
-
Big congrats on your first buck! Awesome coues!
-
Some critters are just lonely too and will herd up with anyone that will tolerate them. I dont remember who, but theres a member on this forum that had a bunch of pics of a little muley buck and a young antelope buck roaming around together a few years ago.

Im just getting old and blind. Cant see the target that well past 60 yards any more, so thats my limit.

Congrats! Awesome buck!

This is actually incorrect. As the arrow travels further from the bow its horizontal velocity is dropping while its vertical velocity is increasing. Depending on your arrow weight and initial velocity the variance in pin difference might not be noticeable but the longer pins are gapped further apart. I shoot 380 grain arrows in the 270ish range and the gap between my 50 and 60 pin is noticeably bigger than between my 40 & 50. The gap between 20-30 and 30-40 does look about the same, as these ranges are on either side of the arrows apex of trajectory. The longer pins are all on the down hill side of the trajectory though, so the spacing becomes exponentially larger the further out you go. I couldn't fit a 100 pin in my sight if I wanted to, theres not enough travel.

If you get tired of waiting on the draw, archery deer is still otc and theres always a pretty good list of leftover javelina tags.

That sounds like a helluva hunt! Nice work, and I hope he's buying your beer for...... I guess the rest of your life should do it.

Keeping one crazy bleeder happy is hard enough, trying to keep two happy at once?! No spank you! Good luck casey. If you're in the prescott area, I'd very highly recommend jeff sparks. I dont know any others though.

Looks like a great year. Congrats!
-
If you have a jackrabbit predator call you can give that a try too. Ive called them in with it before. Good luck!

Go in the afternoon before and sleep out in your glassing spot so youre in position and dont disturb anything while stumbling around in the dark. I cant tell you how many times ive heard the pounding of little hooves in the dark and then seen the little white flags bouncing away in the beam of my head lamp.

Maybe I'm just not used to seeing them, but that looks like a really BIG cat! That units deer herd will probably grow 10% from taking out that guy alone, nice work!- 20 replies
